Idk where you got the fact that everyone prefers the old system, I and many others like the new system as it rewards consistent players, gives a benefit to older players through the reimbursements and brings newer players more into the loop
Personally, I find the new system refreshing and very well made, and I wouldn't want the old one back, even if there was a possibility of that happening, which as of now there isn't
