In this instance you shouldn't of been slain, even if the player did or didn't shoot the other. As you state the player was ignoring an unidentified body in which you believe they had shot dead, a simple chat would've sorted any confusion out for all parties.

All punishments aside you also do need to tone down how serious you take the game and spend time trying to piece a person to their crime rather than opening fire, in this case due to a little mistake, if the person that was killed died to the fire or even set to spectator I would not feel killing the other person for not identifying the body is needed, but if the dead player was shot(by anyone) then all is fair game.
