let me break it up for you

You as a staff member warned and slayed a player for a rule you were unsure about
Staff members in most servers are not 10 year olds, I guess they expect you to show some leniency within the rules
While you might have a point on the rule, you should understand that it was perfectly understandable for him to have killed you under that situation, rules are not set in concrete mistakes happen, just as rdm chains happen you just don't slay all the persons involved on it, the guy saw you destroying a healthstation and did what he did to which you still think you're 100% right and did absolutely nothing wrong.
It doesn't matter if he called you names or whatever outside of the game, you guys can't hate each other outside of the game as much as you guys want, what matters is what happened in the situation in game.
Now you can keep being "THAT" person who is "I never do anything wrong, it was his fault 100% I'm the one at right here" or you can show some maturity as an adult and admit that you also acted wrongly during the development of the events that lead to this post.
again I don't think you should be demoted at all, but you clearly acted harshly about something that could be easily described as an honest mistake.
