Your issue wasn't the way you initially approached it, it was that you disallowed any changes in your attitudes following the discussion and presented a failure to accept that you were wrong and a real sense of stubbornness and inexperience, which could lead to you passing down misinformation to staff members who you'd be advising.

Either way, I'd argue that what you did was actually WORSE than initially being rude as you've demonstrated far more faults which are much harder to correct.

Not going to be comfortable with you as LT for a long time.
