Just would like to respond since you claim I misunderstood the situation. I fully saw the logs you posted but I only handle reports for those that report the player because I believe that if a player does not report the RDMer they do not care about the situation that occurred, which is fine. While I could slay him for the damage he did to Skinny Boi, Skinny did not care enough to report him. Meanwhile, you did care to report him so I handled it based on the damage it had on your game experience which was a total of one damage. So I simply sent him a private message telling him to not throw random grenades in the future or he will face punishment. Staff handle reports in different ways, this is just how I handle mine: I do not punish for those that don't seek punishment.
Wait, so you’re saying that if the person that was directly affected by a rule break doesn’t report, then they shouldn’t be punished? In my opinion, you should respect the fact that the user would like them punished for breaking the rules, even if it didn’t directly affect them.
From the staff ethos: "Our aim as a staff team is improve the experience for the people in the community, not to interrupt them whilst they are playing when it isn’t needed. We don’t want people that break very minor rules that have no impact on other people or servers being needlessly punished when a simple talk can resolve the situation."
There are times when even if a player is not reported they should still be punished, for example someone could mass RDM and only have one person report them but they can still be punished for mass RDM. While in this case the user did throw an incendiary grenade(still have no proof if it was random or not), it did not do an awful lot of damage to the players it hit so in my eyes brenzor was in the right to just give them a verbal warning because overall the grenade had very little impact.
I agree that a verbal was the best way to deal with this situation, my point was he said the reason he gave a verbal was because the user that the grenade actually damaged did not report the incident. I just thought that the punishment given should not depend on who reported the rulebreak, anyway, a verbal was perfectly suitable either way.
