I make sure each staff member has sufficient chance to improve on something before being demoted (unless they have abused in which case I would most likely want them demoted depending upon the situation).

Those are probably the main 3 points at the moment, I might think of more and I have also put the stuff in my app as other reasons to why I am worthy, eg activity and trust.
