Exactly. If you truly wish for this meme to die out and be forgotten, you have got to stop bringing it up yourself. That's the most important step. The second one would be growing completely immune to any jokes that may arise from it, showing 0 bother whenever and wherever they may arise. People will eventually get bored of it and move on to someone else they can piss off. I know it's a pretty common advice but as long as they even slightly get to you, the pranksters won't stop. Posts and efforts such as these will only extend its longevity.
