You were an amazing admin, and as other people have said, there is no need to resign over this. Obviously, the overall choice is up to you, but I would personally strongly advise against resigning due to this.
I personally have fucked up plenty of times in my journey to get where I am today, and I can tell you for a fact that even people higher up than me have fucked up, including Chute himself. The difference is that in order to continue and to do your job better, you need to take those mistakes and improve on them, running away from it by resigning is just that: running away. Do you honestly think someone can get into a high ranking, or even any position, without fucking up and making mistakes along the way? The chances of not making mistakes are unimaginably low.
