If the shotgun boost were to be added as double damage like other gun type damage boosts, then it would likely be far too OP (which has been the reason we decided not to add it in the past) - do you still feel it would be useful/a good addition if it was only 1.5x damage? I can't imagine my favourite shotgun (striker 12) with 1.75 times more damage :^)
