Explain how you feel that your time as a moderator will contribute to you becoming an admin.
During these last two weeks, I feel like I have done a decent job at integrating myself with the rules and standards here at ZARP, and also making the transition from Friendly Players’s rules and standards as some of them have many differences. Working alongside many staff team members here at ZARP has definitely influenced me when it comes to that transition process. I give you my thanks.
Explain a situation as a moderator you encountered that was an obstacle you had to work around (EG: defiant user).
A tough situation I had to deal with during my time as moderator was dealing with a F1 where a player was trying to make it seem as if he could barely speak English, despite breaking the rules Obviously my gut was telling me he was lying, but at that point I knew well that part of being staff was being fair, and I consulted with the other staff team members that were on and got their opinions/ideas on how to handle that situation. Fortunately, everything was resolved when an admin discovered that there was an outstanding ban-request on that player, and it was accepted.
If you had to write a facebook post to train a moderator in between 200-300 words, what would you say to give them the full grasp?
“Hello new Moderator! I’d like to congratulate you on making it to ZARP’s Staff Team!
First and foremost, you are now a figure on the server that many people, despite what you may think, will look up to and seek out for guidance in certain situations. One of your main priorities here is to set a good example to everyone and to conduct yourself in proper manner, and this includes keeping a level head.
As the weeks go by, you’ll notice more and more new staff team members being orientated and being part of the team. You should always be willing to lend a hand to these people and give assistance if they need it. Constructive criticism will never hurt anyone as long as you give it in a friendly and caring manner, and if it’s someone who is genuinely trying hard to get staff, then there’s nothing wrong with coaching that person up and giving them advice.
Now that you understand the importance of your new rank on the server, it’s time for you to be introduced to our F1 system. Right now I will briefly list and explain the uses of the features available in the F1 menu. Your in-game trainer will instruct you to use these features in a fashion that’s complementary and professional.
-
Admin Requests – These list all of the requests for players who require assistance. Whether it’s RDM, or someone needs help using a certain tool, you should be making it your best effort to see that the issues are being resolved.
-
Warnings – These can be easily described as strikes. Three strikes you are out, quite literally. If a player receives 3 warnings in one session, they will be kicked from the server
-
Logs – The logs are there for you determine what transpired in an event that you haven’t seen.
I will now show you the FAdmin commands you are granted with your new rank.
-
Kick – Kicks someone from the server. Try to rely on the F1 warnings first, unless if it’s an emergency.
-
Unban from job – Removes the restriction of someone who was previously demoted from a job. Only use if you are certain that the person was demoted for an invalid reason, such as RDM.
-
Freeze – Freezes someone in place. Should be used to prevent somebody from RDMing or running away from a sit.
-
Slay – Kills that person. Try not to use it if you don’t have to. You don’t know what somone could be carrying.
-
Mute – You should utilize this command if someone is spamming and is refusing to stop.
-
Teleport – Teleports someone to you. You can either bring them to your relative location, or to the location you are staring at.
-
Back – Teleports the person to their last location from when you initially teleported them. You should use this after an admin sit. is completed.
Thank-you very much for reading this! Once again congratulations. Be sure to listen to what your in-game trainer tells you and ask questions! Good luck!”
Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player x appeals their ban in great detail, apology and effort. You check the ban list and find that you banned them permanently for propspam, and that this is their first ban. How would your response to the appeal be?
I would most likely change the ban from permanent to a specified amount of time, probably 3 days at the most. I would then take the time to explain to them why prop spam isn’t allowed, and they must be on good behavior from that point forward.
Why I should be promoted (we recommend around 150 words).
During my time as moderator so far, I feel like I’ve shown a very strong consistence with both activity and being diligent with handling F1’s. I also believe that I’ve displayed a strong balance between handling those F1’s and Roleplaying on the server as a normal player.
I won’t lie here, I had my sights set high when it comes to my attempt to move up the ranks, and I can admit I was a little bit ambitious, but meeting so many great staff members and regular players alike has really humbled me, and I have great respect for those people, especially for the ones who took time to give me critique or help me out with sits. I want to continue to prove to you guys that I am fully capable of putting arrogance and pride aside and focus on the things that are good for the server and community itself.
One of the main qualities about me in FP that I really want to bring over here at ZARP is my passion for helping people in this community that really struggle to keep a good reputation or just can’t seem to get accepted for a rank. There’s nothing better than seeing someone go from being community banned and changing everything up and work their way up the ranks, and when I come across those people who have those struggles, I always offer them support and constructive criticism. Anyone who knows me well-enough knows that qualities like that are true with me, and as I said previously, I’m always up for the challenge to prove it to everyone.
About the whole meeting thing
I understand that I have yet to attend my first meeting since I got moderator, but please take the time to hear me out. I have a job, and it's not easy for me financially and reputation-wise to just take off a day for work. By the time I finish my shift at work and get home, the lead team meeting has already begun. Please take into consideration that I have attended multiple meetings during my time as owner in this community. As for this weekend's meeting, I will try to make my best effort to attend by switching shifts with someone at work, but I can't guarantee anything. Thank-you for understanding
