Explain "Random Death Match" and give an example scenario.
Random Death Match is one of the most basic yet important rule to understand as it can make players potentially loose millions and create heated mass RDM's within groups. When someone 'RDM's' they are killing a player without correct cause. The valid causes vary from situation but has to be a role-play reason specified in the rules.
Example Scenario
There is a gun dealer in the streets walking along, he walks to up a citizen and randomly shoots the citizen. This would be a completely random reason for his actions hence the name ' Random Death Match'.
Explain "New Life Rule" and give an example scenario.
The New Life Rule or NLR as commonly referred to is when a player returns to the area or district (Tunnels separate the districts) they died in within the 3 minutes after dying. This is made simple with a big red countdown in the top center of your screen. There are also some other aspects to the NLR rule these are, you can not remember or discus what happened after you die, you are effectively a new person and should not go back for things like 'revenge kills'. This is why it is called the 'New Life Rule'.
Example scenario
There was a mugging that took place with player 1 as the mugger and player 2 who is the one getting mugged. Player 1 did
/me drop 4k or die in 5 seconds! Player 2 did not co-operate and end up getting himself shot, player 2 ran straight back to where he got shot and started shooting at player 1. This player is then breaking the rule
'2.2 New Life Rule'.
Explain "Metagaming" and give an example scenario.
Metagaming is when a player uses the OOC chat 'Out Of Character' chat to discuss 'In Character, (Role Playing)' information within this chat. This rule applies the same way if someone was to talk about 'Out Of Character' information 'In Character, (Role Playing)' chat.
Example Scenario
A player types in chat '/ooc Guys i'm raiding there base now! Come meet me!' this would be breaking the rule '2.3 Metagaming'.
Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player x accuses player y for RDMing him, the console log shows that player y killed player x.
How I would Handle It:
I would firstly TP player x to a suitable location for example a roof top, i would then ask him what happened to him, after hearing his story i would TP player y to me and ask him for his side of the story and why he killed player x. Is player x gave a suitable counter argument that would explain why he killed him, i would ask player x if he had any proof of player RDMing him. If i was given sufficient evidence that proved to me he did RDM player x i would then warn player y for RDM. If he did not give me evidence i would explain how a simple screenshot can be very effective in these situations and next time if he could get some evidence it would help. I would then kindly ask player y if he did RDM player x please do not do it again and if you need to read the rules type !rules in chat.
There are many possible out comes for this situation as you can sometimes find out that the player did RDM because of what he told you, but this is the most basic way i could handle a RDM without causing too much tension between the two.
Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player x accuses player y for breaking NLR, the kills are pretty close together in console (a few lines apart) at a peak time.
How I would Handle It:
I would TP both
player x and
player y to a suitable location, for example an empty roof top. I would then ask player y why did you break NLR? Now half the time the player was not aware of the rule and I explain to them the rule and warn him for breaking the rule. The other way it goes is the player says i didn't and gives their side of the story, most the time with NLR the logs is enough evidence to warn the player y. Lets say for this instance it is not, i would ask player x for any evidence now depending on if player x would give me reliable evidence or not would depend on if player y got warned. If he did not have evidence i would explain the rules to him and suggest he reads them through at !rules.
Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player x calls for help in the OOC chat because his bank is being raided
How I would Handle It:
I would type in /ooc my macro bound message that reads, '/ooc Please do not Metagame. If you are unsure of this rule please type !rules.' , after that i also PM the player and explain to him what it is and why he broke that rule and also give him a verbal warning. For example, 'Hello (player x) you just broke the rule 'Metagaming' are you aware of that rule mate?' and If he apologizes and gives me a valid reason why he did it, for example 'I did not mean to use OOC I meant to type /gang' i would say 'Ok mate Ill just give you a verbal warning, don't do it again, thanks'. On the other hand if he was to reply with 'I don't know what that is' I would explain to him the rule and give him a verbal warning. If the player does it again I will TP him away and explain what he has done and depending on the situation possibly warn him or not.
Why I should be chosen (we recommend around 150 words).
I think I should be chosen for moderator because I was previously moderator and due to some personal reasons I had to stop gaming for a while and had to quit. Once I was able to play again I returned to Zarp and have been playing ever since, I still love the server and with my years of playing I have plenty of experience with dealing with players and all the rules. I would also like moderator because for the past 3-4 days I have been on 10 hours + a day and keep seeing rule breakers at night. I would love to be able to help everyone out and stop these players from ruining other people’s experience at Zarp. When I was staff previously I used to love doing F1’s and helping people and did many throughout my time and would love to join you guys again.
