Explain how you feel that your time as a moderator will contribute to you becoming an admin.
Back when I was a moderator (and administrator) I had learnt a lot of things and met a lot of other staff. I have learn that being a staff member can be hard but sticking to it and loving every moment of it is extremely rewarding. Back when I was staff I was doing more than 20 f1s a day until my inactivity struck after buying new games and later, resigning.
Explain a situation as a moderator you encountered that was an obstacle you had to work around (EG: defiant user).
I had used to have had a few situations where I have come to an obstacle in my path, but I will use this one.
One day I had a ton of f1s, and I was trying to ask for help over steam, so someone could come help me. But I had this certain f1, the f1 was titled "PROPBLOCK ADMIN TO ME!!!" or something around those lines. I accepted the f1, went over there, and I immediately crashed. I didn't know what was going on, I didn't know if it was my computer overheating (Because at the time it did that but not any more because of my new gaming laptop) but I was getting onto the server as soon as I could to try and resolve that f1. When I got on the server the person who made the f1 was spam PM'ing me asking why I had left. I messaged him back saying "Sorry, I crashed" so I teleported back to him, and with devastating lag, I saw like 40 of those big fence props. I got my camera out and took screenshots, but then I got propkilled by the props rattling, I teleported back to quickly look at who spawned the fences and I found the player. I went to spawn up on the ledge thing just above the NPC. And I asked him what he was thinking, he was AFK...... At this point there were 2 things in my mind : "He's pretending to be AFK" or "just /kick him", so I kicked him, easy enough. Till he came again. Propblocking spawn as soon as he got online, I immediately decided to kick him again, and with desperate need of an admin, and no answer, the only thing I could think of, was to warn him 4 times to get him banned, as that would've been the only answer, just to hold him back for an hour, so I could hopefully get an admin online. It was all resolved in the end. Because he never came back onto the server.
If you had to write an email to train a moderator in between 200-300 words, what would you say to give them the full grasp?
Hello [Insert name here],
First of all I would like to congratulate you on being accepted to the ZARP gaming SSRP team, this is an email of telling you the basics of being a moderator on ZARP.
You may of got your training pack download off of one of the higher ranked SSRP staff members, this can be handy at times, I advise you read that now if you haven't already. Now I will explain the commands and features of moderator.
Admin Keypad Checker
This tool is very handy and is obtained by being a "Mod on Duty" which you can find at the bottom of the f4 job screen.
The Admin Keypad Checker, is used by clicking on a keypad to check the delay of fading doors. Just click on the keypad with this tool (It looks like a Half Life 2 pistol) and it will come up with "This keypad is connected to 0-[Any number]" This will tell you if it is linked and functional, or a troll keypad. If it is connected it will come up with a green beam leading up to the fading door, which will then have a "delay time". Remember that fading doors have to be on 4 seconds or more.
The logs
Press f1, as if you would be playing as a user to make an f1, but without the f1 system screen, it will pop up with a new screen, called the ZARP Administrative System. There will be 3 tabs.
•Admin Requests
•Warnings
•Logging
Admin requests show current f1s.
Warnings, show up with warnings gave to players by other fellow staff members. Make sure to do plenty of f1s as Super Admins and above can now see how many f1s you are doing.
And logging, is used to look at the logs. Such as : [09:07:36]Sam Townsend killed Redpowder using an m9k_dragunovsvu.
To accept an f1. Press on your f1 button, and it will come up with f1s instead of the usual "Report tab". Click on the f1 you would like to handle, and click on "Handle this f1!" After that click on the f1 your handling again, and click on "goto" this will take you to the player who made the f1 so you can handle it. To show that you have finished the f1, go into the f1 menu, and click on the f1 again, and click "Mark as finished". And that's how to deal with requests. You can also click "Mark as Spam" if a player is trolling the system, you may also warn this player for false reports.
Now for the commands!
/warn
You will use this a lot..... just do /warn [player name] [reason]
Warnings can be undone with /unwarn [player name]
/kick
Use this to kick players, for reasons like propspamming, MASS RDM, etc.
/freeze
/freeze [player name] can be used to freeze players when they are propkilling, RDM'ing, RDA'ing etc.
/unfreeze [player name] to obviously unfreeze them.
/tp
Do /tp [player name] to teleport the requested player to the position of your crosshair. You can also do just /tp to teleport to the area your crosshair is aiming at. You can also type : bind [key] "/tp". This will allow you to press a key and teleport instead of typing it.
You can also do /back [player name] to send the player to their last position, or you can just do /back to teleport yourself back to your last position.
/bring
/bring [player name] to bring the requested player to your position. Its probably easier to do /tp [player name] as using /bring does not allow you to use /back .
Admin chat
Do /// [message] or @ [message] to use admin chat, to talk to other moderators, admins, SA's and HA's without normal users hearing you.
/slay
No point of using this one unless a player is refusing to drop a weapon they are RDM'ing with.
/slap
Not worth using this one, its just a troll command which should NOT be used.
Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player x appeals their ban in great detail, apology and effort. You check the ban list and find that you banned them permanently for propspam, and that this is their first ban. How would your response to the appeal be?
Hello, [player name]
I would like to thank you for putting effort into a ban appeal.
I banned you for propspam, as the action you did has the power of crashing the server. I hope you understand what you did was bad, I will happily shorten your ban to 2 weeks, so hopefully you can think about what you have done. Remember to read the rules which are located
here!
Accepted!
Why I should be Administrator again :
I think I should become an administrator again because I have been trustworthy, honest and loyal ever since I have joined ZARP last year in April I believe. I am an ex-administrator and I had never been given a warning before even when I was staff. If you check your punishment list of me (My Steam ID is above) you may see that Cameron3100 has warned me for RDM, this was when we were both admins and we were just messing around and he accidently warned me, he he. I am active in game and on the forums, posting guides about carrots (more to come), replying on other peoples applications, giving them feedback and generally not breaking TOU or rules in game. I still remember the commands and rules and I believe that I would be a very capable administrator again. I have also learnt how stressful it can be for a staff member from a user's point of view recently, so helping them would also be wonderful.
So I thank you for reading my administrator application and I hope to see you soon!
