About me:
I am goldauraz. I am a lover of Prooophunt and Surf. I joined the community in Aug 2020. I am a Mechanical Engineer by profession.
Communication
I am naturally introverted. Over time I have gained more confidence in being more interactive on platforms such as the forums and discord. However, I still value quality over quantity and prefer to listen rather than speak. In meetings I am very vocal.
Experience, Traits and Abilities:
During my time as SA I have had the opportunity to improve my people skills as well as identify some character flaws that needed improvement.
I have trained many staff members for the Moderator or Admin role. During this I have learnt to improve the training methods I have used, and to test whether I understand the applications of commands and policies suitably enough to train someone else. Trainings in general also have improved my people skills, as an introvert who has generally struggled with initiating conversation so this experience has also forced me from out of that zone.
I have handled more sensitive situations as well, which required confidentiality and tact. I have also had to speak up about more difficult topics and to not to be afraid to voice my own opinions even if they are not according to the opinion of the majority. I believe that each staff member brings something unique to the table and this only works when each person focuses on being themselves and not someone else.
I’ve also learnt to be more attentive as well, even if I don’t necessarily agree with a given opinion. This has helped me challenge the merits of what I believe in and helped separate personal feelings from any proposed idea. As a person I have learnt that it is also okay to be wrong, and make mistakes provided you learn from them.
One of my strongest suits is attention to detail. Ensuring background tasks and records are kept up to date and that server suggestions are captured and dated as these tools/systems are only as effective/reliable as the information in them. As a staff member I take pride when seeing that all things Surf-related are correct and up to date.
I have also been told that I am “too kind”, so I am trying to become a better asshole.
Dedication:
I have maintained high activity on Surf regardless of role. I enjoy the game and improving in skill has been incentive enough to keep playing. Then there is the calm and relaxed player base which makes for a pleasant experience. From the time I was accepted as Moderator until now I have not missed a single meeting.
My goal has always been to be an asset and a trustworthy member. I like to do things swiftly and thoroughly. My approach has also been to handle situations as soon as is possible. In the absence of higher lead team, I have also ensured to post meeting outcomes with permission.
Plans as HA:
My intentions on Surf have always remained simple. The specific area I am capable to contribute to is the staff team and the player base:
To continue to be a reliable member and someone who can be trusted and depended on to complete tasks and handle difficult situations
To provide an unbiased perspective when assessing situations for the benefit of the server and for the staff team.
To help and equip other staff members that are interested and willing to take on a more leadership position in the community with any skills and knowledge I am capable to share
I would also like the opportunity to train prospective lead team members. In addition, I would like to be able to host meetings if necessary; so that meetings progress smoothly when other higher members are not available, in order to help prevent the current situation where meetings go on for too long unnecessarily and generally because of unforeseen circumstances and as a result people lose interest in attending.
