Introduction
Hello, thank you for clicking on this post. This is a post talking about and explaining my body transformation, what calisthenics is, my inspirations and motivations.
Story
So basically, I was this super skinny kid that liked basketball until around 3-4 months ago. Then I had some inspirations... that helped me start calisthenics. Now some of you may be asking, what is calisthenics, lad?... Calisthenics is a workout style where you use your own body to workout. As an example some calisthenics moves would be; Sit ups, Pull ups, Push ups, Calf raises, etc.. This workout has helped me for the past month to change for the better.
Inspirations / Things that helped me start
I have a few inspirations / things that helped me start and push my way through the toughest part, which would be starting and continuing without quitting. I have made a tiny list of a few things that have inspired me to start calisthenics. Here it is;
ParaMontana
Man, I don't know where to start. Even though I have messaged you on steam and on the forums saying that you have inspired me. It may not seem like a big thing to you but you were one of my biggest inspirations. Thank you for inspiring me, Para.
My tough times
I'm living through some very tough stuff that had to make me man up at a very young age.. and having those thoughts and feelings just hurts me inside, very much... So I told myself, be brave! You can rip right past this and fucking shoot a lemonade gun right into life's eyes.
Calisthenics Body Transformation Videos
I know this sounds stupid as fuck, but listen to me. At this point I was convinced to start working out, but I didn't know what the actual fuck i'm going to do. So I decided to search some random stuff about working out and then I found a few videos about Body transformations, and they were all from calisthenics. I watched them and I was surprised, some people being able to go from skinny as fuck to body builder, or Cody(fat asf) to mr dwayne the rock johnson...
True Friends
A few of my very dear friends helped me, told me to start it and helped me through the way of my progress, not that it is done, they still support me and help me every... fucking... day... There are a lot of these friends of mine but I would just like to make a list of the few that really helped me during this time. Here it is;
Cody
Man, I don't even know where to start.. You are literally one of my greatest friends ever. You've been there everyday for me to talk with me, make me feel better, make me laugh to my own jokes... You're a true lad and I'm glad that I have a friend like you.
ApeX
You're a true motherfucker.. You've been with me for 5 years all the way back when I was suicidal.. You talked with me and made me laugh every...single...day.... I'm glad to have a dear friend like you.. You've literally introduced me to so many new games, so many new places. Especially this community. You were the friend that introduced me to Garry's Mod, DarkRP, Deathrun, ZARP & Friendly Players.. <3
bunnyrai
Man, I know you will probably be surprised to see yourself here, even though I met you like literally 2-3 days ago.. Talking with you made me work harder, much harder. I've started to do new calisthenics moves and find more moves that I didn't even know was possible.. Just know that you inspired me to work harder.
Calisthenics
So, for some of you that were lazy to read the entire thing and wonder, "what the fuck is this calisthenics thing this nerd is talking about".. here it is. The word Calisthenics comes from the ancient Greek words "kalor" which means beauty, and "sthenos" which meanas strength. It is the art of using one's body weight to improve him or herself in their physique, without any equipment other then possibly a bar. And the short version of those who are lazy to read it would be; Body building using your own weight. Some example calisthenics moves would be;
Pull Ups
Lifting yourself on a bar to improve arm muscles, back muscles, chest muscles and belly muscles.
Push Ups
Putting most of your body weight on your arms and simply doing the motion as if you were pushing someone slowly. This move helps improve the arm muscles and chest muscles.
Sit Ups
The name is self-explaining. This is a position where you slowly get up from the laying down position and slowly drop back down. This improves belly muscles.
Calf Raises
This is a very efficient move that improves your leg muscles, mostly lower leg muscles. You basically go on your toes, slowly.. and go back on full foot. Repeating this around 20-50 times per cycle is an efficient way to improve your leg muscles!
