I'm not sure about Canada but here there's schemes where i think it's a few months you can spend in a temp unit to see if you can adjust to the life and make a decision after that.

I have always been around the army, a few family members there, always been around the barracks in their summer kids clubs and so on, I grew up with it and after I finished college it was something I wanted to do. The thing about the army/airforce/navy is there's so many jobs and careers you can get trained in, things that would set you up perfectly for a job afterwards.

I would go into the USAF to get some flight hours in, but I have a problem with my right shoulder and I can't even do push-ups without it feeling weird and making snapping noises.
I want to become a pilot and I don't want to spend a shit ton of money on fuel, when the government can do it for me
