You should be the one that should be ashamed.

Hunting animals has been a hobby for years now and yet now you realize?
You only care now because he posted a picture of a dead lion.

killing a harmless, endangered specie.
You ever seen a lion, they are carnivorous. Aka they kill and harm other animals and sometimes humans.

So your telling me just because they need to hunt to eat, they deserve to die? Man, you fucked up.

Can i also point out, what did this lion do to that man?
I never said that.I said that the choice of words was kinda incorrect.
Now you should probably go re-read that now with this insight.

I should be ashamed for sharing this? Surely the people paying ridiculous amounts of money just to have the bragging rights of killing an animal are the ones frowned upon here. Personally I find you making the assumption that I have only been 'caring' since it has been on social media is a poor misconception on your behalf, and im saddened by the fact that you think this is how people function nowadays.

Let's assume a hunt began around 5 months ago. The hunters shot around 4 lions. No one would care. Then a dentist shoots a lion and takes a picture and everyone takes the shitter.

Then there's pigs to slaughter alongside cows and other animals that we eat on a daily basis. No one cares about that; hence hypocrite (Well except vegetarians).

And this;

...Is also alright.

I should be ashamed for sharing this?
I didn't aim that to you but whatever floats your boat.
the fact that you think this is how people function nowadays.
People can't live without social media as me can't live without Steam. Interesting hyperbole as I don't mean everyone.

you're misunderstanding the point im making here, the person that did it, took pride in doing so. Was proud of himself being able to murder these animals for a mere few photographs of him, next to the dead creature. killing the animal is one thing but to then boast about it is on a whole new level. The only good out of this situation is possibly educating those who did not know about poaching ect, also questioning as to whether it shall be legal at all.

Ok I am stepping in. Both of you make very valid points.

Walrus: Kitty does know that hunting animals for sport has been going on for a very long time and she understands the point you are making but what she is trying to express is not the killing itself its the pride taken in doing so and displaying this pride online and via social media.

Kitty: Your making a valid point. Walrus is also trying to express his feelings on why everyone is taking such an outrage to this considering it has happened for so long and the way that meat today is processed.

Both of you have very strong opinons that are displaying very valid points. Neither of you are wrong and arguing is not going to help.

Are you seriously including pride into this?
So it's wrong to have pride in doing something such as hunting.

Kay.

killing the animal is one thing but to then boast about it is on a whole new level.
Taking a picture of a dead animal that he hunted is considered boastful?

Kay.

It's a social media for a reason.

You can also metaphorically say that the animals in zoos are dead as well.

if you weren't sure, that's what hunting is. The animal, as mentioned, is considered the 'trophy' and showcasing this image as if it is a lifetime achievement sickens me. And you comparing zoo life to a barbaric sport, killing animals for unjustifiable reasons is ridiculous.

I think the main point behind this is that lions are endangered and there is no reason to hunt them other than for sport or trophy hunting. There is a clear difference between animals killed for food consumption and animals killed for the hell of it. I'm guessing the only thing the lion is going to be used for now is a wall decor or something similar. The problem isn't that the lion was well known or that it was a lion. It would've been just as much of a problem if it was another endangered species killed for no valid reason at all. The fact that it takes social media for people to notice the fact that trophy hunting is cruel and a problem is sad but I guess it's one way to get people to understand how cruel and bad trohpy hunting is. This might be an opinion a lot of you don't like but I still felt like putting it out there.

Ever killed a fly, spider or any other kind of insect? That species could become extinct, making you just as bad in some people's eyes. Killing animals for personal gain is human nature.

Rather than worrying about a single lion, worry about our slowly dying planet.
