So you wanna use Linux, That's great!
Linux is a great operating system for a few reasons
- it's resource efficient (I got a 7 year old PC with a core 2 duo running 2% idle)
- it's free, don't have to pay
- all software available at first is free and OPEN SOURCE (open source means you can modify the code if you want)
- can do almost anything
- you learn a lot about computers very fast (from all the issues you may encounter)
- malware? Not on my system (Linux malware is incredibly rare, especially considering most Linux malware targets servers not desktops)
- perfect for developers (not .net though)
Does it sound like a great idea? Well calm yourself, don't go downloading that ISO at this time. I gotta list some downsides
- can be slow
- can feel bulky
- may not work out of the box
- may not be a simple answer to your issue and may be above your current skill
- hard to learn
- community sucks
- gaming is shit on linux
Now while the downsides seem pretty bad it's defiantly not usually like that. That's is a worse case scenario.
Overall you feel more in control in Linux, in Linux if you want to overwrite the MBR you can, you shouldn't, but you can. Linux provides a great learning experience, a great environment for developers.
For those of you still brave, don't worry. You can still do everything a windows can do, you just need to jump through some hoops first.
If you want a Linux flavour I suggest lubuntu (a lightweight Ubuntu with a good desktop. Instead of that shitty unity). It's also faster.
Will finish later. This was mainly for toxic gaming mainly.
