TOPIC: Zarp used to be so great

Back in my day, we didn't these teleportation devices, hypertechnological pay2win entities, suits that don't even look like suits.

Like what happened to the Zarp that used to be about millkors and the occasional m202? A lot of people say thundergun was prime zarp era but you just don't get it man. It was already declining with the addition of thundergun. It was peak during Agentlulz and Zart, now it has become a slot casino.

If you don't agree you're honestly just wrong, Zarp was peak 2014 when explosives were introduced. ChuteUK accidentally stumbled into something beautiful: Props that can be damaged and unfrozen. It led to beautiful inventions, such as the steelbar prison gates, container stacking and more.

But instead of building on that concept he introduced weapons that could delete entire bases; hand cannons being the first of its kind. Then Chute decided: Hey I don't think raiders should have to raid. They should just be able to teleport into people's bases and skip the raiding step, and one event and a whole lot of cases later, Chute basically deleted raiding. Furthermore he spent no time balancing, because he was too busy counting milk buckets.

This is sad, because Zarp has long since its peak died. Few would know this community used to have three servers and all of them would be full at times! Now it's just a memory that few of us hold onto. I called the death of Zarp with the introduction of the gluon gun (It was still salvageable at that time). Now who's laughing??

Zart and Agentlulz time supposedly being peak shows that you're old as fuck aspect. I think you're right about the handcannon though, everyone had the same sentiment when it came out. Gluon on release was also busted too cause there was no prop protection and I'm pretty sure it had infinite range. The thing that really killed zarp imo was bad leadership (Xnator) and when it turned into an hvh server, then a bunch of asap kids came and ruined it even more.

If you think I still play zarp or actively have for the last 5 years your mind is slipping gramps. The last time I played actively was 2020 and even then my hours went wayyyy down after 2018. I look on here maybe twice a month to talk to the few old players or if someone says something funny.

Would have been nice if it could have stayed a bit of a cult-underground server with actually good gameplay. That would have required actual intelligent game design for new additions though, sadly they chose the EA/Activision corpo approach.
