Watch Life of Boris on youtube about surviving 1 week with a budget, it may help.

Personally when I was living on different city and new apartment, at first week I just brought some food from home, if you have a fridge in your apartment then you're saved. You can store shit ton of meat, then just cook it. Later 1month i searched for a job to time with my school, it worked out and I didint have a budget anymore to spend how much I want on food.

Search for a job that would fit your time with school but don't overwork.
