This has been caused by miscommunication by several high ranking staff members involved. We as the CM team take full responsibility and apologize to any user that was scammed in this process. We will personally ensure that every user will be refunded by the person that scammed them.
There was server-wide miscommunication. LuciouS does not owe an apology himself, as he did what was deemed
not scamming at the time.
The issue has been solved, and it won't repeat itself. Appropriate actions are going to be taken so another similar incident is not going to be happen as well. Thank you for your patience.
I couldn't disagree more. Just because something was (incorrectly) said to be allowed at the time does not make it right, and I believe everyone that has done this should apologise appropriately (either through a post like LuciouS or private contact like Sorle).
I appreciate the apology. There's no particular reason to keep on hammering on about this, though it does concern me what you and others would have done had it been said that this was allowed officially.
I still disagree with the scamming rule, as I believe it's part of the game, and people should be more cautious before agreeing to shit. I think a better move would be to create an official coinflip system but remove the scamming rule, so a large part of the server can be maintained without a rule for it.
Obviously it's morally reprehensible, and using a Pastebin/external link at all is classed as deceptive/trickery, however I'd still argue that the main part which became scamming was trying to hide the terms. Scamming is part of RP gamemodes and should be treated as RP imo.
so by that logic I should be able to coinflip with ppl and not ever pay them? that makes logic sense lol
I think you find that by that logic it's quite the opposite. I'm suggesting to introduce a scam-free coinflipping system which can't be loopholed in any way whilst removing the scamming rule, as coinflipping was a big part of the introduction of the scamming rule.
Would introduce a new element to RP and make people actually think about their actions again.
you said scamming is part of the game and reading is part of the game, that being said you know damn well theres an immense diff in a head admin or admin in general pasting rules because an admin is obviously gonna be trusted without question. So he full well knowingly used that power to his advantage lol, btw I paid him 5 mill and wasn't refunded but idc tbh..
but u said scamming is part of the game but have perma banned ppl for scamming lol but we should give him a pass because hes an admin, like I said had a normal member done a loophole scam yall would throw the book at him and throw away the key.. But u expect us to kiss and make up with an admin
Admins in general are supposed to be trusted OUTSIDE OF RP however they're still allowed to do sketchy shit within RP, such as backstabbing, raiding etc. I'll give you 5mil when I see you on.
Considering that you were unbanned and that he had to refund Mr Red X, he received the same treatment as a user in the sense that he had the option of refunding him or being banned.
I'll say this publicly because it's important to know the distinction. The staff team is here to protect from behavior and actions that would hurt the roleplay experience. Getting scammed is a very illegitimate and immoral action that's main purpose is to hurt the player and get what the user has earned by a way that isn't part of the roleplay experience by any extent. It's a hateful action to do and it shouldn't be condoned by any way, and it never will be. I strongly disagree with any argument in favor of "scamming" because it clearly shows you are willing to see the other guy miserable.
Backstabbing, counter-raiding are all parts of the experience, and losing stuff in an active way (for example through raiding or defending) is part of the experience and enhances it. However, getting scammed doesn't, is not fun by any extent, and users shouldn't be fearful of not reading a line between 30+ others. It creates a bad "vibe" that we do not want on the server.
I draw the line between legitimate and illegitimate behavior on whether you're betting on the other guy being either naive or ignorant to agree to something they never could have if they've clearly known from the get-go what they were agreeing to.
Regardless, this has been discussed enough. Sorle, please explain your arguments to the relevant lead team members, as this conversation is going nowhere.
