you have history being disrespectful with staff and i do believe joking about cancer could be offensive to some people.
Anything you say could be taken as offensive. You could get offended about this comment, but its a risk I am willing to take to change your mind in pursue of a fair action.
Instead of saying it could be offensive I would describe it as an action aimed to offend a staff member as that it was
here is an interesting piece regarding this from a person I respect very much. (its less than 2 minutes you have time to watch this)
you are correct everything could be taken as offense but a joke about cancer is extreme and disgusting. it was a valid punishment as he joked about something that could kill you, an extreme disease. what if someone in the server had a history with cancer? they would get offended it is like the racism policy no matter what race you are it is a racial slur. in this case no matter if you have cancer or not it should not be joked about since it's extreme.

Now I would argue that the point of a joke is to be offensive but this is besides the point as I would like to press on the point that we indeed are on the same page and user is in the wrong. I am just arguing over phrasing as I wold deny this as he intended to offend instead of just saying something offensive. Difference is small, barely noticeable, but its important becauses decisions set here should be capable to be used in future as a reasoning and judgements

I took the decision to punish him because i felt offended about the word cancer i dont like to say it or hear it or read it because many people die of it and sometimes you find it out to late and your grandad can not be saved anymore think about that what if it was your grandad what will you do.... i gave you many chances to stop but you did not listen......

Hello, robin. i have talked to the staff member that gave you your punishment and we came to a conclusion.
You have shown immaturity and disrespect to staff members. you kept saying "cancer" even when happy told you it has been offending him. you didn't listen to staff and you failed to follow the rules, the punishment was valid and you should learn from your mistakes.
