It'll work eventually but when you're raiding/defending a base or something like that and you're low health, you want to unequip it before you lose it which you can't since you have the bug. Plus you can't do anything about it, they're going to keep shooting till they die or you, you cant freeze them or anything. So you can't really "wait it out" unless you're fucking lucky as shit.
