At this moment it seems like no matter what is done no one is happy.

People complain about the hitboxes, so at one point the tickrate got put up, it improved the hitboxes, but the lagg was shit, so everyone complained once again about the lagg.

With such a high player slot, and so many players online at one given time, you can't have such a high tickrate or bye bye server.

If you want better hitboxes then most likely the slots would have to be reduced, and then tickrate up.

Exactly lower the player slots.
