Okay, I've seen a few threads about how to deal with the economy - money sinks, nerfing certain features, even suggesting resetting the economy entirely. I have about three suggestions with accompanying alternatives for this, two of which regard gems. Expect those who mine a lot to be pissy. The final suggestion may be a little more extreme.
Also, before I begin, I'd just like to add a little disclaimer: I do NOT think the economy is broken, I just think these suggestions might help appease certain people.

1) Disallow AFK Mining.
This is a problem at the minute. Gems produce the biggest issue when it comes to events, as it's such a cash cow, and allows for players to get all the brand new items as soon as possible. Even the algorithm invented to prevent this isn't doing anything to stop it.
AFK mining gives players the chance to essentially not even work for their money. This is arguably the biggest part of why the economy is the way it is. Make it a punishable offense again, and watch the difference.
The problems with this suggestion lie mostly in the fact that people have purchased VIP for additional accounts just to AFK mine with those, too. These players will no doubt want some form of reimbursement, or a total refund. It should also be noted that some people buy VIP off other players, so could potentially scam for reimbursement. Even though these people have probably already made a huge amount of profit back off of these alternate accounts VIP, they'll probably still want something. My best suggestion would be to pay them a current server-currency equivalent of how much they paid for the VIP, e.g. 30 mil for each VIP purchased or something like that. However, a further point for the other side - there are no refunds for VIP. None. No matter what happens, you have agreed to pay for VIP, and you don't get it back if something happens that you don't like.

ALTERNATIVE TO SUGGESTION ONE: Nerf mining output.
Instead of like 70 gems per ruby, why not push it right down? People wanna AFK mine, that's fine. But make it so that they don't get as much per ruby. This will hopefully control some of the issues revolving around gem output from mining.

SECONDARY ALTERNATIVE TO SUGGESTION ONE: Add an AFK sign.
As far as I'm aware, this hasn't been suggested yet. This joins up with the first alternative. It might be somewhat difficult to implement, but it's worth a suggestion. Allow players to switch on an AFK sign, or make it so that if they type "AFK" into their job title, the amount of gems they get per ruby is reduced, or the rate at which they mine is a lot slower. This would be in effect anytime a player starts AFK mining, though the trouble is a lot of players might not want to sacrifice gems for their AFK sign. Maybe you could make it so that there is a moderator/admin who keeps an eye on the mines and routinely checks them for people who might be AFK mining and haven't switched on the sign/changed their job title.

TERTIARY ALTERNATIVE TO SUGGESTION ONE: Rubies, stone and gold can not be converted into gems.
This is a tad more aggressive, but might be effective in putting a stop to the AFK mining. With this option, we make people consider alternatives to mining for their gems.

2) Change the event currency, A.K.A. NO MORE GEMS.
This is a bit more extreme, in that it makes it so that players with gems will find them useless in upcoming events. However, you can offer a conversion rate that reduces the amount of the new currency by a stellar amount. This way, less of the currency, less potential economic issues.
I feel like to avoid the same issue from cropping up, it would have to go hand in hand with the tertiary alternative to suggestion one and suggestion one, itself.
It's just a suggestion, but I could see how it might piss some people off.

ALTERNATIVE TO SUGGESTION TWO: Nerf gem output overall, and increase the amount required to take part in wheel spinning.
Pretty simple, reducing the amount of gems you get per conversion for anything, not just mining stuff, and increasing the amount of gems needed to use the wheel/slots. It's important to consider this as an alternative for those who already have an overwhelming amount of gems ready for the upcoming events.

3) The Chamber of Commerce.
This will be an in-game area where players can invest money for a few options: a) Sharing the wealth with other players, as in, sending players a regular stipend of money to help them ease into the game. b) Enter a cavern similar to a death-run like structure where players gamble on themselves and the players inside to finish. Bets get a decent amount of payback. c) Enter an area where players can duel to the death with superpowered weapons for a price. This would just be a money sink. d) (AND MOST IMPORTANT) Players can invest their entire networth into the chamber to get a "Prestige" medal. These medals allow for better rewards the more they're invested into, in the form of better and better items. This would be a decent money sink, as the payoff would work fairly well.

ALTERNATIVE TO SUGGESTION THREE: Stock System
Players can invest their money into a stock market, where their stocks will either rise, or fall. They must take their money out at a certain period, and at that point, if their money has lowered, it's a decent money sink. It could also be that they pay a fee to get a number of benefits. Or, they could even invest their stocks into certain player or owner-made companies that offer different incentives for investing. Might be a fun and creative alternative to destroying the economy.

SECONDARY ALTERNATIVE TO SUGGESTION THREE: Court System
Players can sue other players. This could carry over into rulebreaking territory, maybe a player shot another player or killed them, and they've lost something valuable. Maybe the court system allows the player to sue for a settlement that can be capped at a certain point. This could be presided over by admins/super admins or trusted moderators. For each case, they have to pay "legal fees", which will be a percentage of the settlement itself.

TERTIARY ALTERNATIVE TO SUGGESTION THREE: Casino
What better money sink than a place where you can bet frivolously and end up with nothing, or everything? To protect the economy from being too heavily impacted, you could also make it so that after a certain amount of winnings, the players can not bet any further for a day or some time. Might even be able to create a job for it where players can own their own casinos.

Conclusion: I think it's important to remember that ZARP is not just a game; it's a business. They're not going to risk that business by making hugely risky choices like resetting the economy and such. I like a lot of the ideas I've seen from others, too. Would be a cool idea if you had to search around the map to find chests and then craft keys with rubies,stone, gold in order to open the chest and get a spin that would 50% profit you.

The economy is fine as it is buddy, I don't think disallowing AFK Mining is allowed as at the end of the day people afk print and so that's why I think it's not going to be good if we allow this things.

Most of this was to help appease people who thought the economy WAS broken, or damaged.

AFK printing is also on a different level than AFK mining, but it holds a different degree of problems. Also, AFK printing is only really a problem is someone has a whole bunch of dangerously powerful printers and an OP base. More often than not, this isn't an issue.

Disallowing AFK Mining is more just to slow the roll of gems, and there are several alternatives there to this.

I think yall need to stop bitching about it, when things are hard to get you cry and now you guys still bitching about bs. Making these threads is useless. Would love a casino tho but not to 'fix' anything just for fun.
