Why didn't the other people say their reason for agreeing then? Besides Pug of course. Double standard please.
You want a reason even though I'm not arsed to do it? Sure.

Banning a person for one day of disrespect doesn't stop them disrespecting. I'm going to say an analogy that incorporates school detentions. School detentions are useless, they don't change the student at all really. I've been in a lunch detention simply because I was talking and it in no way changed my perspective of the weak teacher.

Though, this doesn't apply in all cases as you have different characters.

Anyways, you should continue to try to improve relations with the person disrespecting. Have you ever tried talking to the person via Steam or whatever and have a conversation?

TL;DR: There are other options than mute and ban mister robot.

Please read my interpretation, could be the way around ban, and it also only uses mute because that is what stops them from this exact rulebreak.

Sorry if I didn't mention your interpretation. I did indeed read your interpretation but in my opinion permanent mute will cause a cluster of confusion and creates a mess for the staff members to deal with.

I understand the predicament, just glad you took tome to consider it :)

Can't you leave the server to get rid of the mute or is that only for freeze/jail?

Also if people build dissrespectful things instead of saying them. Are you going to mute them aswell?

Building disrespectful things is taking it to the next level. Most likely starts with a verbal warning, then 2-3 warnings, then a temporary ban. Different measures, different approaches, for different circumstances.
How would law enforcement in real life do if everything was the same.

:support:
i have come across many players who simply don't care for a warn/mute but the very next day they do the same thing over and over again. Some never learn, but some do after one warning and maybe more players would learn after a ban

It is also ridiculous to think mute can be used to stop rdming. Yet what I did was a comparison that is relative. There is not much difference in enforcing rules if you consider the ground and base. Depends on flexibility and thoughtprocess.

This might be a nice change to help take people off the server who use their words and not actions against users

allright so how i currently do things is the following
if a user disrespects i start with:
- warn for disrespect
if the user continues
- Warn for disrespect or a mute in chat or voice.
if the user continues
- The user will be muted in the other medium that he has not been muted in
if the user continues by using a loophole, textscreen, chaning job name, changing name etc etc etc
- The user receives a 1 day ban for loopholing and disrespect

Staff need to handle situations better instead of banning anything which moves the wrong way.

When the ethos were first introduced this is how staff were told to deal with a disrespectful user , its clear that over time it was become less know and admins assume that they cannot ban at all for disrespect,

i was told to "follow the ethos" and to use the mute command
and following the ethos would mean that you cant ban for it

Disrespect:
There will be no further bans for Disrespect. Instead staff members must use the mute commands to their advantage. By blocking communications it is no longer possible for that person to disrespect anyone.

But if the user keeps disrespecting after he is muted you peram mute him, if he rejoins then hes is leaving to avoid his punishment their for you can ban him, if the user uses text screens to disrespect you can also ban him for loop holeing, its the same principle with changing name, job name, shop name.

This happens to the TTT server a lot. Many people Mic Spam, we mute/gag them and then they simply disconnect and reconnect to avoid the mute/gag. It is really annoying. I personally have given a 5 hour ban to someone for doing so.(Didn't give him a 1 day ban cause i was afraid of Staff Ethos). Also many other staff send me messages on what to do in this type of situations.

it would be nice if it gets changed.

Avoiding mute is avoidimg punishment. I think a 5 hour ban is reasonable :)
I hope this gets changed, looking forward to see the decision.

Not entirely sure why this will be so much better? To me this will just make it so that more people are gonna get banned? if somebody don't know how to behave even after multiple warnings and mutes, you just dont unmute him, then the person might learn and when they reconnect they can speak again. And if they keep doing it you just mute them again. I am pretty sure that it has been said so many times now.. no more bans for disrespect.

To me this seems like the easier version of solving the problem instead of doing it the best and most efficient way..
