Suggestion Title
Squish the massive money numbers and create a realistic fictional economy.
How would it benefit the server
So, zarps servers have been up and running for about 2 years now (Since the money reset) and since the server doesnt have any dumping hole for money, except for people that stop playing, the numbers have just kept rising as time went on. Just taking the last year, the money that players have has risen significantly, but the items you buy from the game itself, has not.
1 Million dollars is quite alot of money, but as the game is currently, 1 million dollars doesnt count as alot at all.
If we reduced the global money count 100 times, 1 million dollars as it is now, would become 10.000 dollars instead, the results would be:
- Going broke would actually be possible.
- Buying the strongest rifle in the game would now be an investment, rather than a chore.
- Being a millionare would actually mean something.
- Middle class and good jobs would suddenly be relevant, since selling a Dragunov for 4500 dollars or collecting your police paycheck would actually matter.
I feel like these things are something that the game is missing currently, the prestige of having a powerful weapon, or alot of money.
The now higher prices on weapons and other npc bought items would effectively function as a money dumping hole, i would however suggest reducing the price of buying drugs seeds from the dealer, since you would have to reduce the outcome to not make growing drugs too strong.
Theres a few more changes i would like to see done to players made items aswell, to make the economy slightly better:
- Nerf printers even more than the squish, since the system will keep the money balance in place, the money that the printers make will be worth more, even if they produce less, and they are already a far too strong way of making money as it is.
- Add a budget to crafting items, on the side of the materials it already takes ofcourse, explosives should be a luxury in my opinion, and only something the strongest groups should be able to reach.
Example:
Crafting a Milkor now takes 55 Steel, 5 uranium and 200.000 dollars.
I would also suggest adding the previusly suggested system of ammo for explosives, so you would only use them in important situations.
Example:
1 Milkor ammo can be bought from a npc for 100 dollars.
This would help to keep the money in balance aswell.
Having these changes to the server would make sure that only the smart ones would be rich, it would add both risks and rewards to the criminal jobs, and relevance to the safe and legal jobs.
Potential Issues/Exploits
There are probably alot of problems that would come as a result of this, alot of players would log on and wonder why their cash is so low, and they may get frustrated until it is explained to them. There may also be a few points and problems that i have missed.
It would require testing and heavy monitoring at the start, to make sure that everyone is running smoothly, but i feel like it would be a change for the better.
Additional notes
For those who doesnt understand; your current ingame money would not actually be affected by this change, you will be just as rich when you next log in, since the change is global. Its all about how much money you have compared to the total server money.
Also i am not saying that these should be the exact numbers or changes, these are simply examples and suggestions, and you can take what you want from it.
