Explain how you feel that your time as a moderator will contribute to you becoming an admin.
Since becoming a moderator two and a half weeks ago, I've gained a tonne of experience in dealing with difficult situations;
These experiences have helped me learn and grow into a more efficient member of staff and I'm much more confident in sorting out issues on my own unless a higher member of staff is really needed.
Being a moderator gave me time to learn the necessary commands and get used to the system that Zarp uses to deal with bugs and rule breakers so that as an Admin I am already set.
Explain a situation as a moderator you encountered that was an obstacle you had to work around (EG: defiant user).
I'm not sure if this is a lot, but in my first week of becoming a moderator I had two demotion requests made against me (both of which were denied because I had not done anything wrong).
Prior to one of the requests being made, I had three players including another staff member telling me that I was in the wrong. However I believed different and was confident enough to stand my ground, which was the right thing to do.
This taught me to have more confidence in my own decisions and not to just give in.
If you had to write a facebook post to train a moderator in between 200-300 words, what would you say to give them the full grasp?
Hello and welcome to your moderator training!
I am going to run through the basics with you so that you are able to sufficiently deal with the situations mods are placed in.
First of all you have the F1 menu, which includes:
"Admin Requests" that show the current f1s that need to be dealt with.
"Warnings" Which lists all the current players online warnings and latest warning.
"Logging" Displays the logs (Use this to provide evidence in sits for RDM, NLR etc).
"Active NLR" and finally, this tab shows what players currently have NLR.
Following on from this, you need to be able to take players into a sit to deal with their F1s.
This can be done by using /bring NAME or /bring STEAMID which would bring the player to your location, however you could just use the tab menu which is the safer option because it removes the chance of bringing someone with a similar name. The same applies for the commands: /goto, /back and /tp.
Thank you for reading, if you have any more questions feel free to get in contact with me or another staff member.
Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player x appeals their ban in great detail, apology and effort. You check the ban list and find that you banned them permanently for propspam, and that this is their first ban. How would your response to the appeal be?
I would really have to analyse their appeal first of all;
I'd need to find out their reasoning behind the propspam, which is a very serious offense obviously because it can potentially crash the server.
Despite putting a lot of effort in their is still a remaining chance they would minge again, so depending on how long they had been banned for I would shorten their ban giving them time to reflect on their actions so they do not do it again.
Why I should be promoted (we recommend around 150 words).
I want to make it clear that the main reason I'm staff at all is so I can help prevent rule breakers and make sure players can have a better time.
I've had a great time on Zarp ever since joining two months ago, it had me hooked from the start and I really love the community and game features. Ideally I'd be able to help give new players the experience I had from the start, which was great fun.
Being promoted would simply allow me to be a better staff member. Given their extra powers dealing with sits would become a whole lot easier as well as dealing with mass and multiple rule breakers which often occurs on server 3.
I feel fairly adept with the moderator powers and have over 1,100 hours on Garry's Mod so I am confident with the game engine itself.
I've put a lot of time already into this community and I'm willing to invest more so why not give it a go.
Cheers for reading my application,
- Lit
