I did some research there was but you can't get it anymore. He just decided to buy it.

There used to be a special deal for save the world that had some editions that gave you a friend code (right now there is only the standard and deluxe editions of the game, for the entirety of Christmas(I believe) there were 3 more versions, the most expensive being the Legendary edition that also gave you 1 friend code for a deluxe version of the game.
