The keypad just being on a prop doesn't make it valid. The rule states they are for controlling contraptions. If they are activating something they are clearly fine even if that something gets blown up. But if they don't activate anything they shouldn't be there.

If the keypad was used to control a fading door they don't need to be removed, but the post clearly stated they were being intentionally used only for cover.
but people can just loophole around it really easily by putting some bs props down which will be blown up by themselves when they tgun the door
