You contradict yourself. You say it is a valid argument yet the exact thing you're doing in this post is trying to debunk any suspicions that it would be pointless.
but when I was in those meetings wondering who to have was hard. 99 percent of people on this thread may believe it's easy however you might not have been in my position.
I can understand that a little (although logically thinking about it would also easily give an answer).
The current policy states that anyone is eligible for server owner and it's pointless to ask the community without a public thread as people can be missed out.
No, that's just wrong. Nobody here will feel like you've thought long and hard about them when you've selected Polsee and/or Xnator as owner.
What you're doing here isn't trying to make sure that "everyone has a chance". This isn't something like Community Manager where anyone from the Community can (and should) have a chance. This is the Server Owner position, where only the most dedicated and most useful should get the rank. Giving an opportunity to others that don't even have anything to do with Deathrun and that won't be considered as proper candidates when you've got two perfectly capable ones is completely and utterly pointless.
Another way I made this thread wasn't my decision alone. I stated myself and the CM team thought that this was needed.
Don't hide yourself behind the CM team on this one. This was your decision and your decision alone - at the very least stand behind your own decisions. It also wouldn't surprise me if the CM team would try anything at this point to get a new owner. Once again, logically thinking about it gives you the answer, even if it isn't always as easy of a choice to make.
Also in the meetings I also thought this question:
"What can this person do and do they have plans?"
This was the whole point of this thread:
Setup an interview.
Discuss with myself and the CM team any plans and what you can bring for the server.
Now this I can somewhat agree with. Others disagree with me however I do believe that an interview can really help to see what kind of a person someone is. The issue I have isn't with interviews, the issue I have is the fact that you couldn't just keep this enclosed in Deathrun. If you really want to appease everyone for some ridiculous reason then mention in the Deathrun Moderator meeting that you're going to hold interviews. Or mention it in the Lead Team meeting, to have it clear for the best few candidates.
Or, you know, do what I would do. We all know there are only really two candidates, so approach the two candidates separately and inform them that you want to have an interview to see which one is the best candidate. That's the logical thing to do at least.
This was my explanation as I wanted to clear up any issues with the thread.
You've done the opposite, really, but whatever. Thank you for at least acknowledging the criticisms, I do appreciate that.
