There would be no way to stop miners without rulebreaking, I mine, but that would be way too OP imo.

Let's just establish what the problem is, here.

Miners aren't a fun RP class to play. They're purely a monetary boost which serve to get someone more money in the long-term by giving them gems which can then be sold for a huge profit during seasonal updates or even before them.

This is not really RP so much as it is just trying to get ahead of your fellow players. It could technically be argued that's what ZARP is just now, but it really isn't. It's an Semi-Serious Role Play community where players are encouraged to actively engage in various job roles to get a fulfilling RP experience. People complain about not being able to get that experience with all the explosive weapons and anti-base weaponry there is, but let's face it; you can still RP, and you know you can still RP; even with all the challenges you might face basing.

Back on point - there're two big issues with this suggestion. One being that this takes away from the legitimate RP experience by making the player unable to put hits on miners (again, could be argued that this is semi-serious RP so it's not that big a deal, but still). The other issue is that this would basically amount to making the miner job virtually unstoppable. Which means that they can just keep mining, and keep mining, and keep mining until they have an overwhelming advantage over players who can't, or refuse to AFK mine.

To put it simply: It isn't fair.

The only reasons that people are usually for this role realistically is because some people attempt to troll players by putting a hit on them just as their friendly neighbourhood hitman is in the area and decides to liberate them of their diamond/iridium pickaxe. Again, not fair, but also maybe a poignant statement about the risk of AFK mining.

Alongside that, there may be the issue of people feeling as though they invest a lot of time into setting everything up and they don't want to be disturbed - tough. It's an RP server, you're gonna be a part of the RP if you decide to do something that involves RP. Mining is RP, therefore, you are opening yourself up to another part of RP - Having a hit placed on you.

This is a great idea!

I lose five picks a day but I still think this is the dumbest idea ever. Would ruin the economy.

Just mining overnight can get you nearly 1 million gems I think, haven't afk mined in so long. If this rule were to be approved, then people will get all their alts on and get iridium pickaxes, since they know they won't be killed by hitmen anymore. AFK mining takes no actual skill and just gets you easy profit, adding this rule will fuck up the economy even more and make more "economy's broken" topics.
