So, every time I join to mine I die to RDM. This is what I propose to fix the problem

As seen at the bottom of the screen, there are different districts that change when entering different areas of the map. Using the same concept of changing areas to defend miners against RDM ONLY. Read this following scenario if you don't mind for a better explanation.

John Smith joins the server and decides to go miner, he has played for a few hours and has a diamond pick ready to face the world!

Jane Doe joins the server also, fairly new, doesn't understand the concept of DarkRP much and feels as though a good run-and-gun is in order to start the day. She self supplies weaponry as Gun Dealer and begins the spree, starting with the miners.

Lets stop here...
This is where most miners will get shot to hell and lose the pick which they have spent, for new players anyway, a fair sum of money on. Now even the non-AFK miners are at risk as they wouldn't expect to be shot at while doing something so passive. The following scenario is what I propose to fix the issue

John Smith joins the server and decides to go miner again. Knowing that after the update he will have less chance of losing his pick.

Jane Doe joins the server yet again, still thirsting for blood. Again, she self supplies as Gun Dealer and begins the rampage in the mines.

Jane Doe enters the mines, but because she is not a miner, her weapons are stripped and she is unable to kill anyone.

This would fix the issue completely, No Guns = No RDM. But this will ruin the hitman job, and the main reason people buy the Hit Protection player upgrade. To fix this, Hitmen will be exempt from this rule and will only be able to kill players with hits on their heads . Police weapons will also be stripped with the exception of the (Un)Arrest baton and other non-firearm SWEPS. As stated, this could work off the same district system, checking (IF Player is in X district and is Y job) Of course there is a long way for this suggestion to come AND it is most definitely harder than it sounds to implement, there is so much to improve on but as it stands, what are your thoughts?

2.0 Character

2.1 Random Death Match - In order to kill a player, you must have a role-play-valid reason to do so. Crossfire is not an excuse to shoot someone around the area of where you're shooting / raiding .

Just for reference, so people understand that this is NOT anti-RP

After reading some replies, it seems as though RDM keeps the economy in check. That isn't exactly healthy is it?

A miner runs into the mining area to avoid being shot by police as they are wanted, police are forced to arrest but cannot shoot back giving the miner an unfair advantage.

This would be good but make it so police can arrest the miners but they have to be wanted before going into the mines :plussp:

This thought actually crossed my mind just after posting. But in any case, even a timer for entering the area after shooting? More like a 'forced' NLR zone after shooting a damaging SWEP. This should solve the issue. Police AND the miner would be unable to enter the area for say 30 seconds from the LAST bullet that was fired from a weapon. This issue would also prove troublesome for Police VS Wanted Hitmen. To solve this also, I guess there could be some 'softcore' godmode in the area, making all players, with the exception of hit targets, immune to bullet damage. The aforementioned solution is a very basic fix that will ruin the day of a hitman. The alternative is to allow police to enter the area with weapons.

In any case, I definitely agree with that. Allow miners to be arrested for a wanted status OR for whatever their offences are in /crimes if the fine has not been paid

This isn't needed, it's just based on luck. Yeah I agree with your police rule however what about the Hitmans who have a hit on the miners?

Imo this is not needed. I haven't seen many people RDMing in the mines lately. I was mining for 5 hours and no one came and killed me. It's pretty much luck though.

I thought it was fairly self explanatory. I thought I even covered it in the post but anyway. As stated the hitman job would be exempt from the weapon strip and will only be able to kill miners that have a hit on them.

Thats the thing, YOU haven't seen many people RDMing in the mines, that being said it still happens. The goal of this is to stop the RDM all together, not reduce it. For example today, I was randomly wanted and arrested on S1, sent to prison and had my mining stopped. I returned to the mine, within about 10 minutes of that I was RDMed. S2 I had the same thing happen. I leave my PC for an hour tops, did the math on my gems to find out how long I was alive mining for, and it was less than half of the time I was gone for. So it still happens and we shouldn't be accepting that RDM is just the 'luck of the dice' when mining. As a rule of the server, people should be following them and there should be some safeguard for those who are following them.

In any case, everyone has a different experience with mining. Your own experience could be an isolated incident but surely others experience the same treatment as both you and I. And I assure you, the people who have had the same treatment as myself would vouch for this haha

There has been way less rdmer's compared to before the Halloween event, ive only lost around 6 pickaxes for roughly 70+ hours of mining this week alone and today i've been afk mining for like 12 hours straight.
This statistically for the price of gems in the past events means that the diamond pickaxe loses hardly equate for 1% of the profits I've made.

Lol no, There should still be a risk for miners to lose thier picks none of the less. Most of the time You Profit enough money to buy Like 10+ Diamond pickaxes So Dont be Arsed if you lose it because you can buy 10 more.

I understand that given the price of gems during an event skyrocket and AFKing would be awful. The main thing I'mgetting at here it that miners are not losing the picks to any form of legit RP process.

Maybe we are going about this the wrong way, possibly sacrifice profits of gems for safer mining? Risk and Reward both go down. Having what I was trying to suggest as an optional temporary upgrade of sorts may be another way to go about it. People can sacrifice a percentage of gems from each item they convert within the mining area to be granted some form of safety while mining for a specific amount of time depending on the item converted. To add more risk to it, possibly a limit on the amount of time one can spend in 'safety' per hour. Of course hitmen would still be able to complete hits, and police would still be able to arrest them, but others would be unable to harm the miners at the very least while they are under protection.

This may clear up a fair chunk of the issues regarding the soft godmode within the area.

Does this sound better?

no, this is anti rp. it removes gameplay from the server and also creates situations taht are anti fun. You can die as miner there are ways that its ok (hitman, sometimes mugging). Yes most of the time its rdm, but rdm is just part of dark rp its an unavoidable side thing

You make 16k gems back in 15 minutes and thats enough to buy a new diamond pickaxe, stop making suggestions like this please.

It is very simple, it is as it should be right now. its very simple you cannot say that some random job cannot go into the mines. All i can say is that STOP BEING AFK WHILE MINING. People that dont wanna sit at their pc and make the money on the server they are playing on are NOT entitled to complain about them losing a diamond pickaxe, if you dont wanna spend time getting the money stop complaining about losing the money, its very simple. The way it is now is perfectly fine...


This is why on the rare occasions i do mine. i turn off my volume and watch Netflix or whatever on my other monitor and when i see people coming over, i just pull a gun out and prepare myself, and that is how you won't get killed, this "issue" has been addressed so many times now, and its not gonna change

Stop trying to suggest this it will NOT happen.

The server at the moment is death match all the time I don't want people now to be AFK for ages making the server look dead and everyone AFK in the mines.

Losing picks is fine, for players who are more experienced, they have the money to replace them, newer players shouldn't take the risk.

Suggestions like this could help the server grow. We have already uncovered that RDM in the view of some members of the community keeps the economy in check. This isn't acceptable in any form to be honest is it?
