The whole “gmod isn’t dying argument” is still weird because sure a few UK/english speaking servers have managed to keep their players but the majority of popular english-speaking servers have died, the vast majority of gmod’s players now play exclusively on FR and RU servers so it still factors in.
There aren't even that many players on russian servers though. I could be wrong but I've recently looked at all the servers and there was 2 big russian servers(1 community) that is always full and all the other ones were kinda dead. I guess we can take a look tomorrow mid-day since i cant really sort gametracker by gamemode. We also can't ignore the fact zarp does manage to get players except it doesn't keep them.

There's quite a few popular Russian servers (based on GameTracker data) however those servers often use bot accounts (which aren't actual bots or they'd get blacklisted, they purchase gmod a bunch of times and basically have a server with 70-80 alternate accounts to make it allowed).

If you filter GameTracker by region though, you can see that there's loads of popular US-based gmod servers: www.gametracker.com/search/garrysmod/US/

Compared with the UK, where ZARP appears (both Prophunt and SSRP) on the second page in the region - there's far fewer populate gmod servers in the UK, however that is presumably down to the US just having a larger population overall: www.gametracker.com/search/garrysmod/GB/

You failed to mention that murder used alt accounts as well and that didnt work at all

Well I mean it doesn't take a genius to realise that you can't play murder when everyone else on the server is afk
shoutout to the idiot who came up with the idea! :woohoo: :zarp:

Rather hypocritical considering this is what you guys attempted to do with Murder and when it was raised, did absolutely nothing to resolve it, probably because it gave you guys a quantity on GT rather than focusing on creating a more quality server

It's simple. The server was fun when it was 'boring' when it had no weapons like it does today when it had players that had to rely on skill instead of suits. To clarify, it was fun pre paramontana having 9 accounts and printing up to 1 billion. The days when Johnny Smith and Mario used to own the best gang because they were skilful players. It just doesn't have that flare anymore. Also, most of the original players from its peak (2015-2017) have grown up and moved on with their lives.

From what I've read in this thread out of curiosity it seems fairly obvious what to do to get players

- new server not on database, with very few items, so everyone starts on zero

- say there will be wipes every 6 months, keep this regularly

- sponsor popular gmod streamers/youtubers to come play on the server

the same thing that happens on ARK servers happens here when a server isn't wiped, the people who grinded for years smush the newbies trying to build mudhuts, the people who have all the stuff get bored at the skill gap and leave the newbies stop playing because the 1-2 old people left just keep ruining the fun for any newbies that join

with the planned wipe it means players can have rivalries without the need to hoarde every single bit of money or item they make, and near the end of wipe it gets full chaos as everyone uses everything they made

to make money without people losing stuff, limit like 50 packs per person per wipe, or just install non-intrusive ads or something, or even a patreon with only 1 tier so people can support it willingly and gain a slight buff would work

just my 2c

Why doesn't OSRS, WoW and other Roleplaying games wipe if it's such a winning concept? SSRP is a long-term investment.

Other roleplaying games don't have the issues presented with zarp as seen above from everyone complaining, and If I'm honest semi-serious RP is hardly RP.

the fun part of ssrp from posts above and from my short time playing, seem to derive from player vs player action and the fact it used to be so equal, now it's not due to the monopoly the older players have over the new, making the new players feel 'whats the point?' and the older players being bored with their huge amount of items and money

things like wow aren't pvp based. They have lore, a story, quests etc. They're not a small garrys mod map thats modded with the prime goal to make more money and kill others.

SSRP is not an RPG lmao, it’s more like Rust/ARK than any of those games so try and imagine what it would be like to play a Rust server that never wiped then you’d get an idea of something kinda similar but not even close to scale because there’s no where near as big of a difference between maxed Rust players and a maxed SSRP player, if you are a new player getting raided by a Jugg+Gluon using ur shitty kriss vector or whatever there is literally nothing you can do

Well, SSRP is in a terrible shape, its even worse than 2019 when there was just a handfull of players on but now, 2022, it's just crazy, i've never seen a server from a large community be like that.
A wipe will never happen, people who have bought boosters may be able to sue zarp or some stuff like that idk, but it's one of the reasons why ssrp will not get wiped.

I think, a community q&a is necessary, but let's just hope it will be more open on both ends because i don't want to see dumb questions answered in a dumb away..

Gluon beats everything, said it for years now. Everything is around the gluon, new suit comes out? How quick does a gluon kill it? New cool weapon comes out? Gluon better. The only couple things that beat it are QED (1 time use) or the steel ninja at max power ball trap (dies in seconds to gluon)

Out of the loop here, but why were teamspeak Q&A's replaced? I personally never attended one, but can see the benefits of an actual discussion rather than just replacing it with a simple filtered thread where the discussions might be less meaningful than getting a live answer from the community team on teamspeak.
