that would literally make every rich player leave the server, im not rich but i would leave if that happened, unbanning everyone is probably the worst idea because im assuming perm bans and cm bans would count that would cause chaos

We can make a back up and try the reset for a good week and if people don't like it then we can easily just change back...

What you are about to read is an opinion, if you don't want to hear my opinion then dont read it. Disagree with it whatever, its what I think. I left the staff team but I cannot say I've left the community, I still hang around the forums, and jump in game every once in a while, but it's nothing compared to what I used to do.

Staff was a shitshow, people got silenced for voicing their opinions, nothing much ever really changed, I don't like sitting in spacers, no more gang action, losing friends because you do your job as staff, boring gameplay because all you could really do was nuke once in a blue moon when the server hit over 20 people just for NO one to raid idk. It all just led to me slowly losing interest. The thing I like most about zarp is the community and the people, but people start so much drama for literally 0 reason, people start talking shit for 0 reason, and it all just becomes a shitfest. I won't lie everyone is guilty of shit talking for 0 reason and just talking shit because you can, some people legit come on zarp just to talk shit. Also its damn near impossible to come fresh into the server and get good weapons and suits without paying money or coinflipping, and once people pay money and get a suit, some older player comes and RDMs it or sweats their balls off to rip it (getting their gang to place hits, forcing a player into KOS because they dont know the rules all that well) stuff like that. Surely Ill still stick around the forums and whatnot but getting on the server to see half the people AFK just isnt fun. I miss the old maps, something the community really liked and wants to give another chance, but that wont happen and we all know that, things just aren't changing. The summer update will bring players, but I don't think it will bring back players.

Two last things I would like to talk about is all the events happening and the requirements for LT, It's nice to see, but people often just complain about it and I don't think so much time and effort should be put into it just for them to get looked down on. I participated in the wipeout event and most of the time it was just a shitshow in the waiting room while people waited 30 min to 1 hour to get a shot at completing the course. It's an attempt to bring players on the server but if people don't want to play, they wont. Those events are now mandatory for Lead Team members and I can say it was part of the reason I left. I live in California, 8 hours behind most of you, I have school, I cannot host a zarp event at 12pm in the middle of the week... Now, for an admin to apply to Super Admin, for some reason it doesn't matter how much you staff, It doesn't matter how much effort is put into the server by you, it's your connection to the LT. How often you sit with them in TeamSpeak, how often you help with their events, it doesn't matter about your playtime, report count, forum RA/Appeal count, its legit your if you're friends with LT or not, and I hate that. I remember getting denied back in march because I didn't communicate with the lead team and they "didn't know my background", yet I had the highest report counts, I did 90% of the appeals/reports on the forums, and I didn't really have a background. There was only 1 more person that did reports and appeals, it was Happy_Dead but he resigned. I never sat in TeamSpeak for over an hour and that held me back from getting Lead Team the most. I applied with good odds about 4 more times but then I ruined it for myself later on. I went off topic a bit sorry but, basically you need to sit in TeamSpeak for hours a day to get SA, and help with events. Two things that really aren't requirements but apparently are. I don't like seeing people get denied because they aren't best buds with the people of the LT, yet it happens 95% of the time. I remember Xnator saying the LT is all about communication and how well you communicate with each other (in TeamSpeak) but I don't feel like thats it at all. I rarely used TeamSpeak in the end of my staffing yet I did my job just fine, looking over the staff team and making sure everyone doing what their supposed to be doing. I used the LT chat in discord more than I used teamspeak. I really just think that using TeamSpeak and helping people with events shouldn't be a requirement to get SA but it is and I know that wont change. A lot of things don't change, and that is probably why I slowly lost interest/lost the motivation to play.

ngl it was just a coinflip simulator with no rivalries and it was just a bit boring trying to get money, also I’d much rather have a social life than spends hours on end making 0 progress towards anything, to pull any of the old players there needs to be some serious change so someone doesn’t have to spend money to play the server

if the server had more consistent updates even if they were little it would make players wanna stick around. the server is so repetitive with 0 to no action, at this point i don't think SSRP can be saved.

A lot of things but some main things were lack of skill in other players and them still ending up winning fights due to either ping or just the suit they use being far too op. None consistent updates at all. I made a suggestion for the visor to get buffed before the summer update came out and it got accepted. Still hasn't been added or anything, that's how far back they still are on adding in suggestions. Yet they keep accepting more and more shit that most likely won't be added. I even made up to 220b in a few days and still wasn't having any fun on the server. The meta isn't even fun anymore with the jet suit on the server. You know its horrible when we used to beg for mummy meta to be nerfed then we want it back instantly. At least with mummy meta, 1 player could have a fight against a zerg if they were good enough. With jet, I had tried many times to pull off pushes that would have been possible against a group of mummies without even being able to get 1 person to take off. You have to focus on one person for so long to get barely any damage off. If the jets were added properly and made insanely rare I'd be fine with it since it is much stronger than a gjugg IMO. I've argued about how dumb the jet suit is so many times in other posts so I'll stop there.

Lastly, not listening to the community. The entire server was saying how the jet suit was completely overpowered and how none of us wanted it on the server even though we had all hated each other. We were told to make a forum post by an owner and that they would look at it if we wanted. And all of those suggestions we made weren't handled at all. :zarp:

Agree with quite a bit of stuff here, from experience, lead team is finding people who don’t fuck up often but also either can’t be bothered to argue when a higher up says an opinion you don’t agree with, or just agrees with it regardless. Yes, a lot of getting to lead team is just spending time in spacers with lead team however I found it was lesser so with prop hunt as it didn’t have much lead team when I was promoted. With deathrun, it was a lot more popular and it seemed the decision heavily relied on your relations with the lead team, not a good thing from a democratic standpoint but honestly, I see the logic that the lead team should be able to talk to you easily and know something about you as a staff member, however this usually meant that the most productive staff who don’t want to spend ages in spacers are overlooked

From my prospect The suits ruined it for me, like think about being a new player you’d have to work so hard to have fun/get somewhere.

Especially Juggernaut suits and the gluon gun

I reckon some suits should be craftable for example the jugg, nano and acs but then some should be limited... I think this would fix the problem honestly... Of course it won't just be that simple but we have to start somewhere to fix the problem...

Trix wrote:
Lets not beat it around the bush the server is p2w and nothing more Chute knows it and we know it, we should focus on how we could gain more players instead of releasing updates or making events trying to keep the current playerbase.
Also there is no more gang wars, its either everyone is allied or no one has the balls to raid or to use items, you could launch a nuke and go afk and you would have a free scu after you comeback.
Thats all due to having lack of players cause nobody wants to play on a server where he is forced to buy boosters after losing a suit, or not being able to obtain anything at all withoud buying boosterpacks.
When i first joined asap i was able to obtain some good bit of cash and a suit or two within couple hours and withoud spending a single penny, i do understand that withoud our donations the community wont get far but find a way to balance the two like other servers.

Trixter, I appreciate what your saying but you are wrong and I thought I would take the time to answer you which hopefully you'll appreciate. The server isn't P2W in any shape or form, infact far from it. But I can see how someone without insider knowledge might think that.

1) Firstly did you know that every single item ever released on ZARP has also had a route to get it for free. Back in the early days of the CM team we've always said we didn't want to be a P2W server like so many others where you can buy a custom job with 1000HP or a custom weapon with 100x damage. Instead every item/feature we've ever added into VIP or Booster Packs has also been available for free. Go ahead think of any item even the most exclusive and yes I can tell you how and when they were available for free. Golden Jugg Suit - Black Friday Wheel tokens were free in every event during the update, Any new case, cases are always available in dozens of different ways e.g. Daily Objectives

2) Far more "P2W" items actually come into the economy for free than they do paid. Take for instance over the past few months we've been running Challenge List and Collectible hunts which have collectively introduced over 1,000 new cases into the economy which in turn has added large numbers of suits and special weapons. This is far far higher than the amount of cases and suits from Booster Packs in the same period.

3) Thirdly and importantly - Nothing in life is free. We'd love to get all of our services, licenses and costs for free but everything comes with a cost. We do have to offer some kind of paid upgrade through the medium of VIP & Booster Packs otherwise it's simply not possible to run the servers. We have multiple dedicated machines with OVH which are the most powerful available in their range, we have additional network costs with OVH, we have another server to run the ZARP website, we have another server to run the FastDL system and the APIs, we have licenses for running software on the web server, licenses for running TCAdmin control panel, TeamSpeak licences, Windows licenses, one-off costs throughout the year. Not to mention the volatile state of the economy over the last few years resulting in price rises for pretty much all of these mentioned. All of this combined is very expensive.

4) We give back where we can. I'd like you to think of another Garry's Mod community that has done more to raise awareness and help with Charitable causes throughout the year. Over the past few years we've supported numerous charities including NHS Charities together (a collection of over 200 Charities), Children in Need & Comic Relief. We haven't just thrown money at them either. We've also developed detailed updates to raise awareness and try to get people talking and helping these charities themselves by adding new items, outfits and features in-game themed around the charities.

I hope that gives you a bit of insight into what we're about and how we operate.

back in 2016 you could base and someone would raid with a tgun or milkor and you actually had a chance to defend fun times , now ? they come in with gluons and suits that are unstopable, new players have no chance basing without getting crushed by a jugg

Thanks for the reply Chute, We know it’s not P2W. However could I ask you a question.

Do you take these replies from this thread in to conciderations to give you or the CM team ideas on how to move forward.

Furthermore, Would you think a vanilla server with nothing but explosives is doable?

I'm going to paraphrase what I said to Carson on a similar issue Jordz. Whilst I appreciate your suggestions and the criticisms you have of the server the fact of the matter is that we have been listening now and listening for a long time. We created the Community Council over 11 months ago and have since tweaked hundreds of minor features and values and implemented dozens of bigger and major features too.

The truth is that threads just like this have been made for years and will continue to be made, there’s even a thread calling the community “shit” and dying within weeks of it holding the #1 rank for months on Gametracker in Summer 2015. Why? Because you cannot and never will please everyone. I’m not saying that person was completely wrong either, just because a server is popular doesn’t mean it can’t improve; in that person’s opinion the server wasn’t good enough. And the same goes for when we have less players on too, it doesn’t have anything to do with what you have listed here unfortunately.

We’ve had countless attempts by people who thought the community was shit and that all they need to do is remove this item or add this map, tweak these values and they’ll instantly be more popular than ZARP. Again I’m not holding that against them (except for the people who directly stole our code and content) I once wanted to make my own Community too. However, they quickly found out that just because a handful of people said ZARP would be 10x more popular if they just did XYZ didn’t mean it was true.

Go back to a year or two ago, there were multiple complaints that we worked on updates too big and not often enough. Now we have complaints recently about there being too many updates and too many events as you have mentioned on this thread.

And again I must stress that I’m not disagreeing with you or shutting you down. In your opinion updates could be done in a much better way. But again you notice a pattern, you cannot please everyone.

If you want you can make an application to join the Community Council and hopefully discuss your criticisms and offer a few solutions and see if the rest of the council agrees with you. This would be the best way forward to getting some changes if you feel that's the best way forward for the server.

I hope that gives you a bit of insight into what we're about and how we operate.
i agree with you, the server isn't necessarily pay to win its just the large amount of suits in the economy from events boosters crafting etc that make the server less new player friendly as they get crushed by people with any form of suit or weapon such as the gluon gun making them lose interest before they get to the point of obtaining a suit for the themselves

Don't like playing the server when 90% of the playerbase is staff that is constantly trying to get you banned
Can't voice any opinions now and everything you type to your "friend" on discord might result in a perm ban

Also pushing all this pointless events to bring in players events should be unique and not everyday its just repetitive and it's not fun waiting a few hours just to peak at 20 players and finally get a small chance to nuke and when you nuke 0 people raid there's no competition everyone is either scared or just hoard a shit ton of items and never use them zarp was fun back in the day and can still be fun if it gets changed ig

Thanks for the reply lad,

I’m not shagging my own arse or anything like that but you are correct that you can’t please everyone and people who say the community is shit haven’t been here on the prime year and just want to be pricks about it.

I believe that the best way forward for us as well as the community as a whole, Would be vanilla server. I know many people have suggested this as well as a database wipe but that’s not possible and just stupid. There for I think a vanilla server would be best and the way forward as we don’t want the doors of SSRP to close. What do you think about the suggestion of using the Test server for SSRP as a vanilla server. Like, give it a month and if it’s not performing as well as it should, Close it.

Furthermore, I’m not calling you out mate and you know I have the highest respect of you, But pumping out events isn’t the way forward as they are only like 10 players playing it and majority of them are staff. Right now, we need to make it like the old times, Where new players can have fun and old people like myself can have fun. What’s your opinion on this?

I am also writing my concerns as well, Lead Team for SSRP needs to be tweaked. It should be promotions based on your role and your job as a Administrator and not just because you’re friends with LT, LT should be active and looking at potential LT staff other than sitting in spacers talking about my big shlong.
