Hello Everyone!
As most of you know already, I have a pastebin guide with some ban situations. Most people told me they dislike pastebin and requested me to post it on the forums. So I did.
This is an Updated version aswell. I will make sure it's more fun and less boring to read.
So, New
Admins Congratulations on getting Accepted!
As you already might be aware, you know have the
Ban Command, which is very important and most of the new admins don't know how or when to use it. This guide is made to help you deal with situations that may require you to ban a user.
Before we get into the situations i want you to understand that this is how I (Johner) ban people. You can go ahead and ban someone for 3 instead of 1 day if it's really serious. It's up to you! Just make sure you follow the Staff Ethos.
The following are the most common situations/reasons in which a ban should be usually issued
1) Mass RDM
If you see a user killing 3+ Innocents in the same round for no reason (violating Rule 2.1 for more or equal than 3 times) then you may
Warn them for
Mass RDM and autoslay them for 1-3 rounds (depending on the situation). If the user continues to violate the Rule 2.1 once again and kills 3+ people in one round for no reason,
then you may go ahead and ban them for 1 day
2) Mass RDM and LTAP (Leaving To Avoid Punishment)
If you see a user killing 3+ Innocents in the same round for no reason (violating Rule 2.1 for more or equal than 3 times) then you may
Warn them for
Mass RDM and autoslay them for 1-3 rounds (depending on the situation). If the user disconnects to avoid the punishments you set,
then you may go ahead and ban their Steam ID for 1 day
3) Ghosting
If you confirm that a user is speaking through third-party software outside of the game (usually with friends) to gain an unfair advantage (Violating Rule 1.9) then you may
Warn one or both (if possible) of the people who are Ghosting. You may also add autoslays, although I personally do not do so. If one or both of these users keep violating the rule 1.9 after you have warned them,
then you may go ahead and ban them for a day.
4) Ghosting and LTAP (Leaving To Avoid Punishment)
If you confirm that a user is speaking through third-party software outside of the game (usually with friends) to gain an unfair advantage (Violating Rule 1.9) then you may
Warn one or both (if possible) of the people who are Ghosting. If the user/users disconnect to avoid the punishments you set,
then you may go ahead and ban their Steam ID for 1 day
5) Too many recent Punishments on Record
If a user has many recent Warnings or Punishments by you or by any other Staff Member in their Rapsheet we recommend 7+ warnings to ban.
before you ban make sure to send him a private message (Psay) so you can verbally warn him and let him know that if he keeps breaking the rules, you will have to ban him.
If the user refuses to listen to you and/or keeps breaking the rules, then you may go ahead and ban him for a 3 days - 1 week depending on the situation and warnings
6) Hacking
As an Admin you are NOT allowed to punish people you suspect are hacking. You shall never use the ban command on them. Instead, try to get a Super Admin+ to join the server and investigate. If a Super Admin can not get on at the time, then you may gather enough proof and send it to them. The proof will be reviewed in the next Lead Team Meeting.
7) What if someone joins the server right after he got unbanned and breaks rules?
If a user joins the server right after their ban went off and/or the user has another ban in their Rapsheet and breaks one of the above reasons (Except Hacking ofcourse)
then you may go ahead and ban them for 3 days (if they were banned for 1 day before) for 1 week (if they were banned for 3 days before) for 1 month (if they were banned for 1 week before) for 2 months (if they were banned for 1 month before) or permanently (if they were banned for 2 months before). Also, if a user manages to get more than 5 Punishments in the first 3 days after their unban, then you may go ahead and do what you would do if they had 10+.
8 ) What if someone takes part in 2 or more of the above situations?
If a user is taking part in 2 or more of the above situations, then you may ban them for as much as you think they deserve. I usually just add 1 more day for every situation the have been in. For example, if a user Mass RDMs, Ghosts AND LTAPs, then I would ban him for 2 days.
These are the 8 most common situations.
Hope that helped!
