Forum suggestion, mandatory to add reason for ban 7 years 1 month ago #508600

Server Name: Forums

Suggestion Title: add reason to ban

How would it benefit the server:

Whats the point in other staff teams like on ssrp being required to explain to a user the reason for a ban in so that the user can improve, but when a ban is received on the forums its unexplained and confusing for people, in order for them to understand the reason for the ban they are required to spend an hour or two trying to contact a forums staff by either adding or spam poke on TeamSpeak. This often takes a couple of hours and often people are ingorned unless you have befriended a forum staff

Potential Issues/Exploits:
nope

Additional notes:
Whats the point in banning people for reason "TOU" ?

i highly doubt this request is to much to ask from the forum staff team as i believe they are capable of doing so when other server staff teams are requered to do so.

Lets imagine ssrp admin would have done the same by spectating a user and noticing them breaking rule and then decided to ban them for the reason being "server rules".

when i was trained for ssrp mod and admin i was specifically told to specify the reason for punishing a user

Going through the small effort of giving reasons will stop confusion and help banned users a lot.

I've never understood why the reason TOU wasn't good enough to be honest. If your ban says TOU go look at the rules page and see which of of the very few rules you have broken and be done with it. They shouldn't need to explain every single little detail in order for people to understand they did something wrong and at end of the day if they can't figure out what rule they have broken they probably shouldn't be on here anyways.

PS: Half of the time it isn't the person who got banned that's wanting the reason it's usually someone that can't mind their own business.

I had a user asking me to contact a forums staff as to his ban confusing him, he spend a hour with no luck adding forums staff and not getting a response on teamspeak. He told me all it said was "TOU" and nothing more and that he didnt know what rule he broke, very simple solution to this by requiring from a forum staff to type in a ban reason as every staff team on zarp does on all other servers

an other example would be this new user getting banned for replying to a spam post
zarpgaming.com/index.php/forum/general-d...9951-question#508592

he had no idea the reason behind which lead to unnecessary confusion where the staff banning the user could spend a couple seconds extra typing in the reason.

Most people ban them for "TOU" because they cant mention a specific reason.

Why is that so?
If they banned them then they must have broken a rule
perhaps unconstructive posting or disrespectful posts, i highly doubt this request is to much to ask from the forum staff team as i believe they are capable of doing so when other server staff teams are requered to do so.

bump, i strongly feel as this request is not to much to ask from the forum staff team as other server staff teams are required to do so

The majority of people banned are banned because they post things that are rude and unnecessary or just blatantly vulgar. As stated by others it isn't difficult to look at the TOU and realize; "Oh yeah maybe I should've not gone on that guys app and told him to off himself". Should you be banned and truly not know why contact one of the global moderators and they can view who banned you and ask them why. Anyhow 99% of the time if you think of what you posted prior to your ban you'll be able to figure out why you were banned.

Don't think it will happen you can work out why you were banned most of the time and if not contact someone.

It's not that hard

Not really needed, If you got banned you can ask a forum staff to check who banned you or ask about and see why you were banned.
