Introduction

Welcome to the guide, post reading the title of the thread i'm sure you know what this is about. We'll be going in-depth on giving applicants good and useful feedback and criticism they can use to improve themselves effectively as a person or just for the position they're going for on our servers. There's a lot of confusion of new and old players as to what's effective and what is going to help an applicant at the end of the day, instead of calling someone out on their flaws it's much more efficient and helpful to put yourself in their shoes and speak with them like that. We'll be going over this.

Our Servers

Since this is about applicants, I'll be posting the requirements and what's recommended if you're applying for our servers here.

(Semi Serious-RP): zarpgaming.com/index.php/forum/server-ap...-application-updated

For Applicants we recommend around two weeks of consistent activity, a friendly, rule abiding player that is eager and willing to work and be apart of the team. Recent Warnings are counted as recent for two weeks, so if you have recent warnings we recommend waiting these out before applying, however it's of course up to you. If you'd like to see how many recent warnings you have, contact a Moderator or higher on any of the three SSRP Servers.

If you're applying for Administrator, we also of course recommend everything listed above, if you're applying from Moderator we'll be taking a close look into how you've been doing your job, in F1 Situations, etc. The main difference is your Moderator Experience will be looked over.

For Lead Team applicants we recommend activity for a prolonged period of time. We take a close look at how you get along with the current staff team across TS3, as well as the other servers, including player and staff relations throughout the community.

Feedback Commands

I've always received questions in regards to using these commands listed below, you can use these to specify what you're giving applicants on their application, or just because they look nice.

The DONT's of Criticism & Feedback

Now first, there's a lot of information here so I'll break it down into small paragraphs.

Going off Topic

One of the biggest mistakes I can see on applications at times over the years I've been here personally are people completely derailing topics. If you're trying to make your point and state something, going off topic is going to negate any credibility you are hoping to gain from your post. Don't shitpost.

Breaking TOU

Breaking the rules is only going to get you punished, don't do it. What's the TOU you may be asking? The Terms of Use is just another word for Terms of Service, etc. They're the rules to the community in general. Link to TOU.

Stubborn

I sometimes see people being stubborn towards people, when it comes to staffing you need to drop your personal issues and respect one another.

Blunt

Being Blunt when it comes to giving feedback, etc. comes off as rude at times and 99% of the time it really won't help the applicant with what you're trying to state, trying going about about it and re-write it.

Negativity

At times, people can forgot what they're saying or just go in on someone on their application. If you're giving feedback, I'd recommend trying to match each negative with something positive.

Example:
Hey bud, your activity is only a few days in total, however when I've seen you in game you're very friendly and helpful, keep playing and i'm sure next week you'll have a better chance!

Malicious Posts

Things you know you can say to hurt others, don't do it, it's very rude and will more than likely get you banned.

The DO's of Criticism & Feedback

Friendly Approach

You have a better chance of someone getting your point or criticisms, if you say something like "Hey Man, Hey bud" etc. The personal connection right off the bat makes them feel a more sense of Community and friendliness.

Criticize and Give Feedback, don't insult.

Sometimes people can be confused on what Criticism or Feedback even is, and get it mixed up and start being rude to other. You need to put out the issue or a negative they have, and thoroughly go through how to improve upon this.

Example:
Hey man, your activity is low and at times you can be quite rude to others on the server. I'd improve upon this by playing throughout the following week consistently and think through what you're going to say before you say it.

Be there for them!

Within your post, you can always state "If you need help with this and that, feel free to contact me on steam or another staff member. This makes them feel valued as not only an applicant, but a community member.

1 Negative for 1 Positive

As stated previously, if you've come across an applicant with a few things they can work on, try to match it with a positive. Often times if you're just blasting them with what's wrong with them, they'll consequently think there is nothing good about them going for the position quality wise.

A good example of this in action:
Hey man, your activity this week is not up to standards, we recommend around two weeks. On that note, you're very friendly in-game and are constantly reporting rule breakers to me, keep it up!

Closing Remarks

Hope this helped, it's always good to see people helping out with applications as the applications are how we get our hard working staff members to enforce our server rules.
