The best advice to give someone...
Not the easiest one to answer, as everyone is different and everyone has different problems. But It's always a good start to look at yourself and see how you handle things if you think you're doing something wrong you can ask other's their opinion on it and improve accordingly.

The thing about improving by yourself is that you need to know what you have to improve on, anyone who thinks they're doing well is less likely to improve their weaknesses unless they are given to them, asking others for feedback is a useful thing to do when trying to improve as you get their opinion on how you do things, in which you can improve. But trying to improve just on your own, it's hard... As you don't know what you might be doing right and what you might be doing totally wrong.

So my advice
Would be for them to see their own actions, and for them to ask others for their opinion about their actions. It might seem a bit old and simple, but it is the way to see and know what you're doing right and what you might not be doing right. And for you to improve on it, but when you give advice don't just focus on the negatives... as it can demoralize them and that's something you don't want to happen. So try to give it in a positive manner and make sure you give them something to actually improve on.
