I agree. I think it also depends on what environment you're raised in, because I was always surrounded by books. There's also the mentality I had where I still read whatever the curriculum didn't prescribe and didn't care for learning quotes in poetry/Shakespeare. In the end I barely passed English, but at least I still enjoy reading.
