⭐ Community Decides - CM Applications OPEN! 2 weeks 22 hours ago #914376

Will this be the most important Community Vote in the history of ZARP Gaming? In 2017 we transformed the Community Manager position and ran the most successful year this community has ever seen.

We’re the only community in the history of gaming to give you, the members, the chance to decide on how every single part of this community is run. See that policy, or that server? You made it happen. And now it’s your time again, who will make the decisions in 2018?

This could be the most important vote in the history of ZARP Gaming. The winner of the Community Decides will change the direction of our policies, servers and members forever.

"The CM Team’s so corrupt! ZARP is dying, they never listen to anything we say, all our suggestions are ignored. I resigned because they’re just using me!"
If you’re one of those players who loves to hate on ZARP (you know who you are) thinking things would be so much better if you could just change that one policy, or open that new server, then it’s time to stop whining and help us make a change. Apply for the position or get behind the candidate you think will transform ZARP into the community you always wanted.

This year, we will be actively encouraging the candidates to campaign for every vote, promise big changes and deliver on them, get on the campaign trail and outsmart your opponents (within the TOU) to become ZARP’s next Community Manager.

They probably won’t let the new CM change anything major
Take our democracy for granted, we don’t care, that means its working. The Community Team has today passed a new policy called the Community Decides 2018 policy. That means something big is coming. For the first time EVER; the new Community Manager will be able to implement all their changes or instruct others to make changes, implement new policies, or new servers without any vote or approval of the CM Team. In the first 30 days they are able to change anything that YOU voted for on their application thread.

We want our new Community Manager to have the power to deliver on what the people want, this new policy will let them do that.

And starting today, we have made all policies public under a new Policies section on our website. We encourage all those who apply to take a look at this section and suggest changes to the policies.

What can I do as the next CM?
We want our next Community Manager to come ready with a vision for big changes in every corner of this community. We’re talking policies, servers, staff teams, updates. With the entire community behind you you’ll have the mandate and support of your peers to implement your changes.

You are encouraged to think long and hard about the demands and responsibilities of the role and make promises you want to deliver on. You can make promises and outline changes you will make to any part of the Community excluding policy governing our democratic processes. If you’re not sure what to write about then keep reading on for our application tips and Campaign Promises section.

READ THIS THREAD IN FULL IT HAS BEEN COMPLETELY CHANGED FROM PREVIOUS VOTES. If you love ZARP and want to apply for this role, read every word of this thread carefully, and get ready to take on the challenge of being ZARPs next Community Manager.

All ZARP members are eligible to apply for the position, but should carefully consider every part of this thread before deciding to do so. Please read the application process below carefully as it must be completed in order for your name to appear on the Community Decides poll. (See the Community Decides poll)

Here are the facts about the Community Decides application process:
  • The only requirement to apply is that you are a ZARP member
  • You must post an application which includes the information outlined in the Application Template & answer all questions in the Campaign Promises section
  • You must post your application by the deadline of Saturday 12th May 6.00PM BST
  • You must schedule and attend the interview (See the Interview section) before the interview deadline of Friday 18th May 11:59 BST
  • The Community Team will contact all candidates reminding them to schedule and complete their interview as soon as possible.
  • You will have at least one week to campaign on the forums, servers & TeamSpeak from the opening of the poll to the close. But you can start campaigning as soon as you post your application.
  • Your name will be entered onto the poll (See the Community Decides poll) when it opens if you meet all these requirements.

ZARP is proud of its democratic processes which elect people to even the highest level of power. The next Community Manager will be chosen by YOU, and will have more power than ever before to deliver on the promises they make to you in an open, fair and public poll.

Here are the facts about the Community Decides poll for 2018:
  • There will be one winner. The one with the most votes.
  • The poll will open on Saturday 19th May at 7:00PM BST
  • All ZARP members will be eligible to vote on the poll.
  • All that is required to vote is an activated ZARP account..
  • All eligible candidates will appear on the poll in a randomly generated order
  • Accounts must be signed up before the creation of this thread in order to vote.
  • Each person can only vote once. If you choose to circumvent this rule by trying to get around our poll security, you will be banned and all your votes removed from the poll.
  • The poll will run for one week and will close on Saturday 26th May at 2:00PM BST
  • The result of the poll will be revealed in a special Community Live Stream which will be displayed live on the forums on Saturday 26th May at 6.00PM BST

Some people have no life, and so try to make alt accounts or bypass our one vote per person system in other creative ways. We have no life either, so this time our increased security methods will reduce voter fraud to zero. But that’s not enough. We want you to be 100% confident in the poll results which is why we are also opening applications for our Vote Confidence team, this team will be able to review all the results as they come in and review voter identification info such as Browser, IP address etc to make sure everything is running fairly and smoothly.

Here are the facts about the Voter Confidence team:
  • You must post your Vote Confidence team application by Saturday 12th May 6.00PM BST
  • There will be 5 applicants accepted by the Community Team on Sunday 13th May at 9.00PM BST during the Community Team meeting.
  • You may not apply to be on this team if you are also applying for the CM role.
  • You must be a lead team member on a ZARP server or hold a forum rank
  • You must accept a privacy agreement
  • You will be able to review who has voted, what time and identifiable information including Browser, IP address etc
  • You can alert any fraudulent votes to the CM team who can remove them from the poll and ban the responsible person(s).
  • You will not be able to see who they voted for.
  • You will be able to review votes live, and will be expected to attend a final vote review on Saturday 26th May at 2:00PM BST

Application Template - Post in the Server Applications section:
Format the thread title like this '[VOTE TEAM] Name's Application:'
Steam Name:

Age:

What rank(s) do you hold on our servers?:

What rank(s) do you hold on our forums?:

How much time have you spent in ZARP Gaming?:

Why do you want to be on the Vote Confidence team?:

In the first meeting of our new team, we’ll be bringing you up to speed on all our policies and plans for 2018. And you should use your application to do the same. Below are a few ideas of what to include in both your written application and suggestions for how to structure your application and campaign throughout the process.

  • Tell the Community why you joined ZARP and stayed here for so long
  • Tell everyone why you believe choosing you as the next Community Manager will bring about big change.
  • Tell us all how your experience and skills will allow you to make those changes
  • Answer all questions outlined in the Application Template & Campaign Promises section.
  • Make your own promises on policies, servers and other areas of the Community.
  • Give us a brief plan and timeframe for making your changes.
  • Tell us which new tools and powers you will be utilizing.
  • Talk to the community about your personality, good and bad.
  • Tell us about how you will avoid making changes on a whim that might seem popular, but could damage the community itself.
  • Do you like ZARPs unique democratic processes?
  • Talk about past and present staff positions in this community.

This could be the most important vote in the history of ZARP, and our next Community Manager will have the power to implement their changes without any red tape. Because of this we want you to think carefully and make big promises that will bring about real changes to the community. To do this you will need to run a campaign. Here are some tips:

  • Speak to other members of the Community who share your ideas and get them to help promote your candidacy
  • Make forum banners, name tags, in-game text screens or whatever you want to advertise your campaign.
  • Answer people’s questions on your application
  • Campaign against other candidates. Do not call them out personally, but if you think they’re not up to the job, tell people why.
  • Focus on specific changes that people can get behind and give them a clear choice
  • Attend the Community Debate, see the Community Debate section.

Let’s outline the role briefly. We had our most successful year ever in 2017 and we want to bring it back for 2018. In your first meeting with our team, we will review your campaign thread and discuss the changes you want to make, and begin making them right away. We will use our assignable work items in our organizational structure to help you keep track of this. That’s the OneNote by the way.

To get you started, here are just a few things that you will be responsible for. Check out the expectations from you section for a full rundown of all your responsibilities if you’re elected.

  • Changes you promised to policies
  • Changes you promised to servers.
  • Changes you promised in all other areas of the Community
  • How we can continue running existing servers to a high standard.
  • What to prioritize for the remainder of 2018
  • New servers.

You must include all information included in the application template as outlined below to apply. You must also answer the following questions and make campaign promises in the following areas. If you don’t want to change anything in one area, you can promise to keep things running as normal.

Think carefully about promising changes that might be popular, but would be bad for the community or its servers. Or changes that would only benefit a specific group of people who supported a poll for example.

Campaign Promises
Here are a couple of areas where people may be expecting you to make a promise. A brief description to each question or area is provided to assist you.

Would you replace the Murder server. If so which game mode would you replace it with and why?
Describe your plans and when they will happen, and who would run/code such a new server.

What do you think are the 5 key issues affecting the SSRP server currently and how would you solve them?
Describe what updates and changes you would make to solve the 5 main issues on the server, think carefully about making changes that could negatively affect the server.

Suggest one key policy to be added, changed or removed.
Think about one policy in the Community you think could be changed. And describe how it would affect things like popularity of the server, mood of the players etc.
