First thing you need to consider if it is a hardware issue or not. As you said a restart fixes the problem however try seeing if it occurs when lets say you pick up your laptop or put it down etc. If it is a hardware issue I recommend reading the warranty and seeing how can you get it fixed. If it's not a hardware issue then do the following.
Most likely thing I can think of is that the graphical driver is bugging out when trying to load a GUI. As you said this happened after a Win10 update which can cause the malfunction. In this case try to re-install the display adapter driver(s). If you have a GPU in your PC then it will go under that name if not and you only have e.g. an I7 CPU then it will go under the name Intel HD Graphics. I think you get the idea. Here is how to update or uninstall the drivers just make sure you re-download a new one to avoid other issues.
Remove or Update Drivers:
1. Pressing the Search on your hotbar search for something called "Device Manager"
2. After it's open you will see something called "Display adapters". Hit the drop down option and you will get something like this
3. Right click on your Display Adapter(s) and you can either update or unintsall
4. As this is different for anyone you need to go by yourself from here.
5. If it still didn't solve anything go ahead and try the same thing but with the monitor drivers. As I have a PC and never tried this on a laptop with an integrated display the options might be different or not even available but it is worth a try.
6. If you still have the problem I recommend digging around through the drivers and updating or re-installing anything that has anything to do with your monitor.
If none of the things have worked from above I recommend recovering your laptop to the previous windows update. Here is how to do that.
For a limited time after upgrading to Windows 10, you’ll be able to go back to your previous version of Windows by selecting the
Start button > Settings > Update & security > Recovery and selecting
Get started under
Go back to the previous version of Windows 10. This will keep your personal files, but it'll remove apps and drivers installed after the upgrade, as well as any changes you made to settings. In most cases, you'll have 10 days to go back.
