The main things expected of you whilst being a staff member here at ZARP TTT are that you are a helpful and friendly character, while being approachable and eager to help both users and fellow staff members and interact with them. While a main role of yours is to keep the server clean of rulebreaks, you are also expected to maintain a friendly and enjoyable environment for all players. This means that you should be attentive to the needs of the users and always be willing to help, maintain a respectful attitude, and stay calm and keep control in situations. Where needed, being stern is perfectly fine, however if it gets to a point where you are being much too serious, there is an issue. Do your best to maintain a mature but calm attitude.
Situations should never be allowed to get out of hand. You are perfectly fine to allow people to have fun, as long as no one's experience is affected negatively. When someone's experienced is harmed and rules are being broken, there is a point where you are required to intervene. Maintain a calm and collected attitude when approaching a situation, even when it gets tough or when you are being disrespected. Do your best to understand when disrespect is out of anger and when disrespect comes from blatant trolling/bad attitude. When it comes out of anger, it's best to attempt to calm the user down before issuing punishment, as issuing a punishment (unless the case is severe) usually makes the situation worse. If disrespect comes out of clear trolling or a bad attitude, then it's best to issue a punishment. While punishing someone, never let your negative emotions get in the way of your duties. Keep in mind the attitude of the user and their level of remorse in the response, and adjust punishments accordingly. The severity of punishment required is adjustable based on the severity of the action. If you have doubts about issuing a punishment, it is best to consult with your fellow staff members first.
While staff members do possess higher in-game ranks than users, they are in no way meant to act superior to users. This shows high levels of immaturity and represents the staff team in a bad light. While your rank may be higher, we are all humans at the end of the day, therefore we are all equal. Authority should only be used when rules are being broken or arguments are continuous. Make sure to remain respectful at all times towards the players. I cannot stress this enough:
Even if you do disrespect another player as banter, and they are not offended by it, any sort of disrespectful behaviour is not tolerated in public chat, as it reflects upon the staff team very badly, and in rare cases, can lead to users gaining the false belief that disrespect is tolerated. While dealing with situations, if you maintain a respectful approach towards the user, they are much more likely to return the favour and cause the situation to come to a quicker end. Even when a user is disrespectful, if you manage to maintain a good and respectful attitude, it may change their way of thinking.
You should be fully confident in your actions before making them; this means that if you have ANY doubts at all, you should consult another staff member or a Lead Team member, to ensure that no one's experience is needlessly affected. From your training and the various resources on the forums, you should be able to maintain a good grasp on the correct way of handling each situation. However, if this is not the case, feel free to consult another staff member or the lead team on how to handle the situation properly next time. This will minimise the possibility of getting reprimanded for your handling of the situation. We're all here to help each other, not just the users, at the end of the day.
In handling situations, the most effective way of coming to a strong conclusion is working together with the rest of the present staff team. This allows the right decision to be made at all times, keeping a positive attitude on the server as a whole at all times. Always offer help to staff members when they've got a lot to deal with, and offer advice where necessary. If a staff member does something wrong, don't instantly jump to reporting them. Speak to them first, and make them aware of what they did wrong. If they accept their wrongdoings, you can leave it at that. However, if not, feel free to take the necessary action. Try to keep arguments to a minimum within the staff team, as it allows us to work together much better if we have a friendly attitude towards each other. Don't be afraid to start small events to keep the users happy and playing, as long as they don't have a negative impact.
In any situation, if you have any issue at all and feel that you need help in regards to how you should be carrying out your duties or you have an issue with another staff member, remember that the Lead Team are there to help you. Should there be any issue, a Lead Team member will always listen to you and try to help out as best they can, and you should always try to go to one of them if you have an issue with a fellow staff member rather than starting an argument within the staff team. Remember, as staff you are a team, not a bunch of rivals.
