TOPIC: [TTT] Staff Attitude Towards Bans

Hello everybody.

I have a growing concern about the way some admins are treating their ability to ban players. I would like to make my concerns public instead for everyone to hear instead of waiting for a such a time to arise where I have to have a very negative talk with you for your attitude to banning people.

My concern is that some admins (mainly new) are itching to ban people - I mean an unhealthy hunger to have your first ban, like it's some kind of achievement. This should not be the attitude you have towards bans and it's worrying to say the least that you view bans so highly.

I look at some of the admin applications and see people listing extensive reasons for banning people, and using it "as a last resort" is the common phrase - these are good things. But as soon as you get promoted, it all disappears. We need to maintain this attitude to eliminate the possibility of unjust bans coming out when other staff aren't there for guidance.

Treat bans as a last resort - a tool for when all else fails and the problem still persists. Bans aren't a good thing, if they were, they wouldn't be treated as they are. You are not promoted for banning lots of people and you are not recognised the amount of bans you hand out. If anything, it's likely to attract negative attention, which I doubt anybody of you want.

Maybe I'm just nit-picking, but this is definitely becoming a trend and I don't like the direction it's going in.

I feel that some admins have a "hate" towards certain "type" of players and the players themself which causes it to become bias in the certain type of ban lengths coming into place. This certainly comes into place in SSRP, I know this topic is about TTT but I feel this probably comes into every server. the "last resort" option is not oftenly used in most cases.

Basically people are power hungry and want to "try" out their new powers by "wanting" to ban people instead of using it as their last resort.

It's slightly less worrying to know that it has potential to spread across other servers - I'm the last person to know as I never play SSRP or any other game mode for that matter. I just find it strange how people can be so thirsty for bans, like there's a reward after everyone one they give?

Some admins enjoy releasing their powers on people who don't deserve the bans unfortunately this will always be the case, I think that the staff team should be evaluated and the people dealt with to try prevent this kinda shit in the future...

I agree. Lately newly promoted admins want to ban like crazy. Every time i verbally warn someone telling him that if he breaks 1 more rule he is going to get banned, 3 admins send me steam messages asking me if they could ban him. This is ridiculous. At the training i make it clear that the ban should be used only if it's really necessary. In my opinion we should remind that to our staff members in our next meeting. I will personally do it since i have trained most of them.

Fortunately , this isn't the case on deathrun

This thread isn't here to pick out people with this mentality. This thread isn't here to publicly shame people. That's not my intention at all.

I think it's pretty unfair to bestow that sort of attention on somebody, especially when it's negative. I can understand where you're coming from R-Flex, I simply made this thread to let everybody know my concerns incase there's staff I haven't stumbled across who are in the same boat.
