Hello fellow TTT Zarpians, as we have seen from previous saturday on, we have gotten a new TTT update which included a new chat system and 'random events'. At first I bet everyone would have been like: 'Wow, finally we get some new content! We might get some variation in TTT and I'm definatly curious as to what this new chat system is all about!' Now believe me or not, I too was excited for this but I couldn't come online just as the update got added because...reasons. Now that I fairly see that a few people are spouting 'REMOVE DIS REMOVE DAS!", I took it up to myself to try the new features out on the server and review it by my personal expierence with it on the server. However, to my disappointment, I will have to follow the 'train of hate and demand of removal' of this update. In this thread I will try to explain why this update was the most unnecessary thing ever done in the history of an old grandpa TTT player like me.
First things first, the core of what is so bad about this update: the random events. I hereby quote The Hitman Jerry's thread about what it all contains from here

BigHeads: in this event, everyone just has a big head, simple as that.
The event system happens randomly at a certain round, usually it's once every map
In a nutshell, we've got 6 random events (of which I know of) which can pop up once every map at a random time. These are:
- Deathmatch
- Team Deathmatch
- Shuffle
- Bigheads
- Headshotwar
- Stalker (I think Jerry missed that one out, kek)
Now let me tell you, as a TTT admin and veteran of over 3 years playing the gamemode, I fail to see how these 'events' are any sort of related to the way of how TTT is normally played. TTT is played by a group of Traitors and Innocents to murder eachother out trying to kill as less of their own teammates as possible. How can this be anything related to any of the events which have been added? And did you, leadteam staff, even gave a second thought on how much unnecessary headaches and work we have to fulfill due to these events being played? Let's talk about the first three events for a bit. The DM, TDM and Shuffle ones.
The rules state that one must have a clear and valid reason with proof to kill someone otherwise this is counted as RDM. Our task from there on out is to slay and warn the player so that he does not do it again. So let me ask of you, the description of TDM and Shuffle says that it's basically D vs T, but the rules state Ds cannot kill the Ts without having valid proof. So what proof is there to start shooting a player who doesn't have a Detective tag on him? This will clearly make the Detective an RDMer and thus leading him to a punishment. Or what's even worse with the description of DM, everbody is a Traitor and has to murder eachother out. Do you honestly expect that we, as TTT staff no less have any sort of interest in this sort of bullshit? WE need to handle reports and handle punishments. It is a TTT server and so it should be respected by playing it as it is a TTT server. And therefore we need to act accordingly by the standards of a TTT server, which will lead to us having a lot of work and headache monitoring the server when these two events have come to play. Oh, and also, let's not forget the important thing here with DM. The probability that a person gets banned because of too low karma gets increased drastically and will turn off players from ever visiting again on this server.
Now next up, the remaining 3 events; Bigheads, Headshotwar and Stalker. First of all, let me ask you another question again. Why did we even need any of these 'events'? If anything I think that especially Bigheads and Headshotwar are the most useless events I have ever heard of. Bigheads basically only cause it harder to headshot a player because their heads are so fucked up huge now that you're completely clueless as to where you can hit a player to get a headshot on him. This is especially very annoying when trying to line up for a headshot with a rifle, which are pretty vital for stealth. And overall, it just ruins the game expierence for both me, and all the players currently in the server.
Headshotwar is just a mindfuck for everyone on the server. Suddenly a window pops up and it says 'Headshotwar! Here's a deagle! Make headshots! Make it a RDMing spree!' Now Jerry mentioned that you obviously can't RDM and still need valid proof to actually kill someone. But hold on! The server window pop-up said that we can just shoot anybody right now, right? So therefore you can't punish us for RDM, because the server itself said that we have to RDM! huehuehue.
No, stop. This is exactly why this is also a massive "to the garbage dump" event on this server which is currently in. I just have to think by myself if you, leadteam Staff, think that we want to go out of our way and putting out all our energy to force these players not to kill eachother for no reason atall. With this event we will have shittonnes of pointless arguements and whines of players so that they will not get a punishment.
And last and final, Stalker. So, guys. Let me tell you something, there's this gamemode called Trouble in Terrorist Town where you basically have to find out who the Traitors in your midst are and you have to try and kill them. They're basically humans which have guns and stuff or will try to blow you up with C4s or a fireable melon which somehow contains explosives. I know, pretty cool right? But guess what! We're in one of these Trouble in Terrorist Town servers and we're actually playing Stalker! A gamemode where a few people get chosen as some fucked up mutant who can jump insanely high and they have to use knives to kill us and no sort of this things like melons, or guns, or C4s. Nah, that's just taboo here.
Do you get where I'm leading on? Cool, because I hope that's enough for you to realize that this 'event' is a giant dump which for all I care about should be purged and sealed for all eternity.
The only thing I still might be quite pleased about is the chat system, but again I fail to see why we would want a new and revamped version of the old chat we had. I modified it so it looks atleast a bit more bearable to me, but the chat is still with errors and disliking details which the old chat didn't have. A little example is this:
Basically what you need to see in this screenshot is that it becomes utterly hard and annoying to use the admin chat from this point on. Anywhere, where ever a name of someone in this server has been said in teamchat with an @ in front of it, our entire message gets deleted and the chat just points out a 'tag' to this player. A little update on this can fix it, hopefully. But I digress. The emoticons on the new chat also are pointless and annoying from times to times. Especially when you want to write something and as you press enter, suddenly an emoticon in the middle of your sentence pops up because of a shortcut to one of these emoticons was there. Honestly, annoying. There also is a huge problem when it comes to copy-pasta'ing message which have been made in the chat. Sometimes the overline bugs out and you can't copy the entire sentence or STEAM_ID you want to copy-pasta in your menu or something. These problems were not apparant on the old chat, and is therefore a reason why we also want the old chat back: plain and simple without any problems.

/rant off. I honestly hope for myself, and the rest of the Staff team and users that this update gets discard and thrown in the bin immediatly on the next meeting this sunday. Unless you have something to defend your decision as to why you still want to have these features still in the server, then you'll have to convince me deeply why so.
