Banning when accepting abuse reports. 8 years 7 months ago #196572

Recently I have noticed that a lot of staff members have accepted ban requests or abuse reports on players that have broken rules. At times these playing have done things that do not warrant for more than a warn or even a verbal warn yet they have been banned. Instead of contacting each staff member or making abuse reports on said staff I'll make this post. Instead of banning someone for RDMing one person or breaking one rule wait for them to get on the server and talk to them, explain what they did wrong and warn them if needed. They wont learn anything from trying to join just to be prompted with a ban screen. Thank you.

Thank you for mentioning this.

It honestly makes no sense, because as Exro points out on some ban requests, the admin accepts them for 1 day, when the incident only warrants a warn maximum in-game.

I don't get the mindsets behind it.

I'm going to Sticky this for a little bit (I'll remove it later), because Admins accepting ban/warn requests on SSRP need to see this.

What he's saying, is that you are banning someone for something that should have only been a warn in game, not SteamID proof or anything like that.

I'll just throw in my opinion on here; The name of the template is ban request, and well that may or may not matter but by looking over the provided proof I'm sure that you, the staff member, can decide if you only want to warn them or ban them. I really don't see anything wrong with banning someone for RDM since the victim took the time to make a ban request with the required evidence.

So if they take the time to show you a screenshot in game you ban them?

So because the victim took more time in the report he should be banned for the same offence?

This has to be the single worst piece of logic I've seen in a while.

Good job.

I agree with exrobite, I havent done it yet but i can see if you ban someone for RDM, then when they get back on the next day, and they get RDM'ed and the guy gets a verbal warning.
